Default Best budget forged 347 shortblock?

ok im HOPING i get my money for my turd gen here soon so that i can order my forged shortblock for my ls1 swap. im doing a front mounted t67 (or t70 not sure yet) with mildly ported truck heads, 02+ z06 cam, and other budget parts. im wanting around 700rwhp on high boost with alky. im leaning towards the TSP forged 347 but i would like other options as well. 2700 is the price range im looking at because if its any more than that ill build my own. the tsp one just happens to be near the same price as a home built setup so thats why i ask.

I have been asking this same exact questions, wondering what people are saying. Link to TSP, haven't checked them out.

Well here is a breakdown of the costs for stuff in my 408, you can do a 346 similar with a stock crank

Diamond -35 pistons - $900
Totalseal rings - $190
Eagle Rods - $600
Bearings - $200
Balancing - $150

You may need a little otherm achine work done too, but its not too much. If you want to get main studs you may also have to do a bunch more machine work.

Some additional things to pick up that are good are head studs - $200

Force Fed High Performance has a GREAT deal on their setups.... I was an inch away until a very generous local solution was presented for my no-engine problem. PM DemonSS (Scott) for details. They are sponsors, very close to your budget, and since you don't need the cam.... They were swamped early season but they are fully caught up and can get you what you need.

CALL LME you may be surprised how reasonably priced their killer shortblocks are and they are building my forged LS6 as we speak!! I have also been very pleased with LME's customer service as its FANTASTIC to get the co-owner of the shop answering the phone and any questions that you have 24/7. To me, that is VERY IMPORTANT!! Forced Fed HP also has great prices.

Budget around $4,500 if you want a top notch short block built by W2W or Lingenfelter. That price would include a new timing set.

When I was calling around getting prices and information LME absolutely blew me away with how well they explained everything. Just one of phone conversations with Bryan went on for 20 minutes just talking about 347 short blocks. Not to mention the couple other times I called.

What I wanna know is why are they so expensive? Do these places take $ off the amount of turning in cores? Stroker crank for $800, pistons + rings about $900, that's 1700, bearings, $70, and they don't even include a cam or timing set for the most part, or oil pump... I never imagined it would be that expensive. Probably well worth every penny, having it done right though... I'll end up getting one. Had contemplated doing it myself, and having machine work done elsewhere, just can't risk it with my kind of application... =\

On Lingenfelters site, they list a 346 short block for around $2100 with core trade in. Is that one not good for boost?

I knew $2100 sounded too good to be true from Lingenfelter.

Yeah stock rods just won't cut it on my application, thanks for the suggestion though. Still not a really bad price for $2100.

This one from one of our sponsors really isn't a bad deal, no core charge. I can get rid of my junk blocks and cranks, use my #317's I ported, slap them on, my own cam and all that good crap and be golden. I think I'll end up going that route, I don't need the biggest freakin motor known to man, I'm gonna kill myself.
