Downpipe placement with truck manifolds

Default Downpipe placement with truck manifolds

i talked very briefly to Jeremy about this (frcfed98) and he couldnt tell me much as hes running a tubular k member. im going to be running a stock k member and planning for a 4 inch downpipe. am i gonna be forced to run that under the k member or can it be done some other way? if under, how is the ground clearence with a lowered car?

i have a 3in goin through the k memberr and its TIGHT! you will def. have to go under. sorry

4" is too much to run under in my opinion... I ran 2" charge pipes and that was fine...get away with 3" no real issue..but for a four inch I'd go to the Dr. Gas website and grab some oval pipe... but that will/can/might mess with desired flow charastics.

on my stock K member i ran a 4inch DP that necked to a 3inch before the K and went under.It actually did good on not hitting things.Tubular K would be the way to go though

when i made my kit with tube headers i ran a 4 inch DP over the stock k member, and it was CLOOOOSE. I couldnt imagine doing it with truck manifolds in the way.

first you should definatly run it over the k-member, there is no reason you should run it under, because you can gain alot of ground clearance. on my car i can go over alot of dips and ramps on the road and it hasnt botomed out yet.
next if your running a stock k-member youll have to go smaller, i thought one guy was able to do a 3.5" but i might be wrong.
do you need a 4" downpipe? if you do you'll have to go to an aftermarket.
Im using the bmr, and had to do some clearancing on it and my block, im using the truck manafolds, and the poly motor mounts and managed to fit a full 4" pipe through there barly.

i was originally planning on a 4 inch dp but after reading this i think ill probably go with a 3 inch dp and then run the rest of the exhaust using 4 inch pipe. Kaos, did you have to do any clearencing to fit the 3 inch dp? do you have any pitcures of it?

no clearencing on the dp had to notch the k member for the manifolds so i could get to one of the bolts. no pics but i will try to get ya one
