As for heads, ported stock 241's for me. Seem to work okay.

I got stock 6.0's for 250 shipped out of the for sale forum. Go to the truck forum for sale ads as well to try and find some.
And if you are trying to keep a lower budget the 370 inch LS2's and Iron Blocks are putting down some sick power. Check this one out. Though you probably seen it!

Mike Brown is running 8.50's@160mph+ with a stock LS2 block (stock main caps and not resleeved), stock LS1/LS2 crank, forged rods/pistons, AFR 225 heads (I believe) and a stock LS6 intake, with ported stock TB. This is in a 3600lb+ Firebird.... It is making some big power for sure.
I would mimick his combo.... it has made plenty of passes and hasn't shown any signs of wanting to go Kaboom. He is replacing it shortly with a stronger buildup and will share the details once it is torn down with what items have excessive wear on them. I'm curious to see how the internals look as well as others I'm sure.

Ported heads arent worth all the extra cash, IMHO unless you have it to burn or are running tons of boost. The thicker deck is why they help. I picked up my stock 317s with 5 miles on them complete with rockers, etc from the FS section for cheap. It saved a ton of money over a ported set.

If you are going to keep stock heads on your set-up you AT LEAST need to change out the valve springs.... In My opinion nothing but double springs.... i like the 2nd spring... there to save your *** (Motor) if ya ever need it. Seen to many motor's go
from single springs.....

What is the difference between the 317 and 373 6.0L heads? Just the material, or is there CR difference, too? I believe they're both 71 cc.

Would you be satisfied with ~700 pump gas numbers?
