Default Stock engine. 4.6 SOHC=520RWHP!!!! HELP!!!!

Someone please explain to me what the hell is so special about the Kenny Bell superchargers? I have a good budy with a lil 4.6 SOHC. He puts on the charger, 4:10's, a 75shot, and slicks and is running a 11.2x AT FRIGGIN 4500FT ALTITUDE! I have NEVER seen a damn GT with ANY blower, run that fast at sea level in Texas....much less up here! What the hell? It is driving me nuts. It just doesnt make sense to me. GT's dyno 235-245RWHP stock. He dynos 476HP, without the 75 shot! That equates to over 200 additional HP!

The KB is a twin screw charger, pretty nasty and other than that not sure what makes it so special. but twinscrews pretty much make all around badass power, where as centrifugal (i.e. ATI procharger, vortech, etc.) make power up top for the most part and roots blowers, make power down low. i can tell you one thing, he probably has forged internals if hes making that much hp and has a 75 shot. so hes probably running alot of boost as well. most kb gt's dont make that much and sure as hell cant spray on stock internals without pistons going through the hood.

I thought exactly the same thing. Car doesnt even have headers. Never been opened up. Stock heads, pistons, rods, etc... I would LOVE to call B.S., but I cant! The car runs like a spotted *** ape and seems to be holding up great! Yea, hes running like 15-17PSI of boost. I just cant comprehend that the car is holding up and that it is making that much power. I have never seen a GT with that much and I am in denial, I guess.
He dogs on LS1's and I really cant say **** because look at those #'s and its on a stock bottom end! Errrr

The 4.6's DO NOT have forged internals. So we are talking about 520RWHP and 600sumthing TQ, on a stock internals 4.6SOHC engine.
Even that being the case... that means that if this car is running a 11.2x at 4500FT... he WOULD be running a 10.2x(approx.) at sea level!

I thought the stock pistons on those motors can only handle 400rwhp...

Where are you getting the "520RWHP and 600sumthing TQ" numbers from? Altitude correction factors are a joke, a car makes what it makes, and that's it.

I find 476 a bit optomistic on a sohc 2 valve, but not unbelievable. I would like to see what the dyno numbers are, and the correction factor.

Where do you get a magic second for going to sea level? Is a track shorter at sealevel vs altitude. You can't use a rule when your comparing NA cars vs comparing blown and sprayed cars at altitude. If I lived in denver the only poweradder I would run would be a KB (or twin turbos)

I do know of a KB 2005 mustang that put down 500 rwhp blower alone without issue.

Personally if I had that car, there is no way i would be boosting that high and spraying with stock internals, but provided you don't rattle the motor even once, it might live for a while.

Possible, but for how long is the question.. Mike Murillo went 10.6's on a stock long block a few years ago.. not sure how long it lasted. Vortech and a small shot if I recall...10.20s I dont see though...

Agreed. Tuning, tuning, tuning, I'm sure with one hint of detonation it's gone, but keep the tune spot on and it's very believable IMO.

The 520/600came from the dyno(saw it myself).
And the "magic second" came from the .9 difference typically seen at an elevation such as this. However, I did forget that with a P/A car, that the time is closer to .3, so thank you for the correction. I didnt think about it.

Yeah, SOMEHOW, it is running strong(and reliably for a year). I finally went on Kenne Bell's website and read all the info(yall REALLY oughta check it out, if you havnt) and stats and concluded that us F-body guys got fucked. We cant clear one of those things because of our cowl. I tell ya, screw Cobras....these GT's with the Kenne Bells are the ones to watch out for!
Thanks guys, looks like Im lookin to spray!

ok, on spray makes sense.

KB's blowers are great, the 2005 gt i drove a year ago was fun to drive.

Im surprised the stock rods are holding that abuse as well. Usually they make a grand exit when the power goes in excess of 400-430 rwhp in a stick car.
