Running on track Tom will probably shift between 82-8500rpm with this engine. I need to exceed the high data point by 2-300 rpm to get clean pulls. Doing this kills valvesprings quickly if you want data to 8500, so for tuning we try to stop once the torque rolls over. If the head gaskets would have held, I'm sure a 8000rpm run would have been done.

Badass motor though for sure.

Thanks for the explanation...

Congrats on building a badass weapon!

Now if you can only convince Tom to let ya get behind the wheel.

Oh yeah what does '3 turns in gate' stand for?

That is my note on the air regulator that is hooked to the top of the gate. That run had 3 turns to produce that boost.

We have seen the same sort of numbers with a big block chevy with the standard Cometic gaskets. We had them hold up to 2700hp with a aftermarket aluminum head/block combo. The LS engine with aftermarket heads and factory block did not hold for repeated runs, although this was the nitrogen ring Cometics instead of the standard MLS. We will send them back and see what the Cometic guys think caused the failure.

1.The MLS is a great gasket, but we have never been above 1200 with reliable results.
2. Not sure of your losses, but we have seen as high as 25% with loose converters. Loose converters are easy to drive, they make boost quickly.

Great job W2W. I think a large number of people are starting to realize that you can pay a little more the 1st time at W2W and actually save $$ in the long run with a quality piece that will last and people that will stand behind a product. In my opinion W2W= Best in the LS1 business.

Did you cut the groove in the head and run a gasket with integrated o-ring? Curious of the set-up.

Doing that would be worthless..You cut a groove on one surface (the head)and the o'ring is pressed into the other (meaning the block)..

I made a visual graph of the W2W dyno data.

thx - if you want the program to generate the graphs I could package it up pretty easy, all you have to do is type in the data for each data point.
