Default Filterin' the F1...

Okay guys need some help here. The big *** K&N I've been trying to run I decided to start over for a few reasons. I don't think the IC is seeing enough clean air, without choppin' up the front any more than I have too, and the duct work I had running to it I didn't feel comfortable with.

So I need some info on what filters most of the ProCharger guys are running. If you give me a part number/site/store that would be a huge help.

I guess the biggest concern is finding one that wont colapse under full boost. The other of course is how much room I have to play with. It has to be a 4" opening and around 10-12 inches long or shorter if it will flow enough at 18lbs...any help??

S&B filters, the one on KP's car fits the bill, It has a 4inch opening and is the about 12 inches long. They make tons of different filters and the pricing is decent. I've had S&B filters on a few things and they are great and you can clean em like a K&N.

Kp's ATI kit was my old kit....so thats the reason I know what filter is on there

I use this one, but it has a 3.5 opening: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RF-1004

I found this one which is similar to mine with a 4 inch opening: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RE-0860

All I did was fabricate a bracket to hold it in place in the stock ATI location.

Thanks for the info guys...I'll be checkin' it out.

No go on the Cobra elbow. It's rubber...If it was a hard ABS type plastic I'd give try. So...money wasted. I have a close friend thats going to try and make the same type of elbow but in aluminum...I'll give that a try if it clears everything.

I wonder if a carb hat for a blow-through setup could be used? I realize the opening is too big at 5" or so, but I bet if you called one of the companies that sell them they could just cut it at 4" instead. Then it would go to a 3" or 4" tube, depending on which one you get. They are pretty low profile for clearance.

This filter here is the one you are talking about? The smaller filter you gave me that was used I never puton the car, this one was new in the box when you sent it and I could have swore it was a K&N..

This one has a 4" opening and went right on the 4" 90 degree elsbow I tried..

Nope both filters I sent were S&B, always had good luck with those filters.

One was a blue top S&B, and the other was the new one with the metal reducing base(pictured)

Another vote for the AEM Dryflow. Oiled filters channel dust and cause elevated dirt ingress. If you doubt this, go and get an engine-oil analysis before & after running an oiled filter and see for yourself. (obviously change the engine oil between samples)
