Default Under hood temps

Im doing a 71 Chevelle with a TT402LS1. My cooling plans are as follows:

Be Cool rad. Dual 1" crossflow
Derales Dual puller fans (4000 cfm)
Engine oil cooler
AC condenser
Spearco intercooler 1500cfm 182 core.

Will this keep my engine cool in the summer? Should I run a aftermarket cowl hood to help vent heat out of my engine compartment? Any thughts would be apperciated!!

Oh BTW - all the turbo plumming, on the hot side, will be ceramic coated.

Being the only other Twin turbo LS1 71 Chevelle in the country at this point, I feel obligated to chime in!

The radiator should be the 1.25" core tubes. I run a Griffen, I have had it for 7 years now and have had good results with it. You will probably not be able to fit those fans in there, I could barely fit the 220 flexalite slimline fans in!

My car runs at 195-200. When it was 100 out, under a full pass the temps got to 205 logged on my laptop and confirmed with my manual gauge.

I do not have a an AC condensor as of yet, but I would add another 5-10 degrees of temp with that.

You should have said - " You Wisconsin Chevelle guys and your twin turbo's".
Well Scott, does your factory hood seem to trap alot of hot air? Do you think a 4" cowl hood would let the air flow better and keep things cooler?
OBTW - Thanks for the tip on the radiator! - Ron
PS Where the next show you going to?

My underhood temps are hot but o.k. so far, I don't think a 4" cowl would make a world of difference.

I am not sure what show I will be at next.

I suggest a that drop in 10-15 degrees would show an improvement.
How much an improvement, and the cost of such upgrade, you would have to tell us.
Any my 6th grade English teacher drove a Chevelle. LOL
just teasing -
But she did.

A: Because the thicker the radiator, the more difficult it is to pass air all the way through the radiator. No performance gains were seen at low speeds (where it is needed most) and some vehicles actually ran warmer when Be Cool tested thicker radiators in their R&D department.

Q: How thick is a Be Cool radiator?
A: Single core Be Cool radiators are 1" thick and all dual core Be Cool radiators are 2" thick.
The fan's will probably fit better with a Be Cool radiator core as it's only 2" thick, not 2.5" like the Griffin you have.

Interesting point... Griffin seems to use 2 row x 1" and 2 row x 1.25" cores for most applications, though they also say 2x1.5" cores are available as well. So if you want to try a GIANT radiator... Griffin does make'm to order.
