headers tubes are 1.5"
collectors are 3"
crossover is 2.5"
wastegate tubing is same tubing used on headers, 1.5" (used to keep from buying a bunch of piping)
and Downpipe is 3"

anyone want to know what this cost me? Everyone is always talking about the real cost of a turbo setup.

Its been real slow coming because at 19 i don't make enough to support continuos parts buyage. But I think I have got a lot for the money. The only thing not in this price is the radiator. I have real close to a complete turbo kit for a lt1 f-body for 3.5k (including the $1100 turbo).... When said and done it will be a bit over five and a half. Pretty cheap i think... Everything is bought brand new from known dealers. No special deals or anything.

$3433.99 spent with
$2279.99 to go

I been keep budget very well.... im pretty sure i will be done without any extra costs....

I have so far (these are my costs...)

Wastegate
Blowoff valve
Headers
Hotside pipes
OBDI PCM
Tuning cables
Tuner CATS
Turbo
V-band Clamps
Line lock/ABS deleate
A/C Deleate
EGR Plates
Labor on hotside...

When you modified that one header for clearance did you just cut and reweld the piping in different location or did you have to bend and add some piping to make it work? Also did you put Stainless v bands on both header and piping or Stainless on the header and mild steel on the piping?

stainless is a joke... the headers are stainless because that is what they came as.. but stainless cracks and ****. Just use mild everything (mine all is) and have it coated. Way cheaper than stainless and wont crack as easy.... besides... if it was stainless i was going to coat it anyways... so why waste the money on stainless.

Nice project going there! Are you going to run the LT1 brackets on the other motor?

Ahh I gotcha.. I was always told that if you coated something that was stainless that it would crack.. Guess thats not true?? What about the headers though? When you refabbed them up did you have to add a piece of pipe in or were they long enough?

If you look at the pictures you can tell....I jsut planned on buying bends that were the same size as the headers and jsut use that same tubing for the wastegate... nad that is what i did

LOL about the tranny part.........ask me how I know. Please tell me you are going to upgrade to a TH400. My built stage 4 4l60e bit the dust under ONE full power romp with the TC76MPS, less than 2500mi on that tranny. I'm currently looking for a TH400 core

or th350....

I have a brand spanking new th400 in my truck... (along with everything else new in the truck) and it dropped a valve... so im trying to sell it right now (the truck). But if it don't sell im ganking the tranny and doing some mods... doin everything down to the t-brake.

But then again redneck performance has some trannys that they seem to stand behind and are freakin cheap for what they are... i'll link ya'll up later...

and shitty on the tranny thing! that is lame. You have had some bad luck with that car! Ever get the boosting issue worked out?

Yeah the boost issue is no longer an issue. We were seeing 15-17psi before the fateful WOT pass that took out the tranny.

The boost issue was mainly caused by a clogged catalytic converter coupled with a few exhaust leaks, the major one being at the WG. The cheap *** Tial WG clamp wasn't clamping worth a **** so I got a beefy clamp from Mcmastercarr.com and it took care of that leak.

Yeah I really don't think anyone has worse luck that I do when it comes to FI.

We are 95% done on Erics ride, stay tuned for pics of his set up.

yeah im interested on how well that s400 will do. Which one did you guys get for your build? Im assuming the smaller of the two (i don't remember the sizez on em.. but they are both big!).

Thats good news on the boosting thing tho. May be awhile till i gank the motor for rods and pistons tho, so I won't be needin too much aweful boost (anyone wanna find out how long a stock 10k lt1 will take 10psi ? lol... longer than you think tho because of my altitude!).

I wish i had a LSx car.. someday.... but I do have a new truck i just got with one of them fancy gen 3 motors... maybe a lil towing rig build up is in order once the car is back together (prolly just do a sts or something.... keep it simple, bolt on and go).

I know where you might be able to get a STS kit, that will fit that truck just fine LOL

Its the 74mm/1.32 a/r S400 that dave sells. We think it'll spool just fine on this 396ci LT1. If not the 1.10 housings are easy enough to find now.
