Default Sts?

Is STS a good company to buy from? As in are the systems reliable and of good quality.

I have 6000 to spend, can i afford a Turbo kit for my car plus all the goodies that go along with it?

i am going to say no that 6k is not enought....technically you could prob get away with it depending on what your goal are.

i would check out trt sponser---> www.trtturbo.com

when i did my sts kit i did it all at one time and spent a little over 7k but i got a lot of upgrades and such...

keep in mind that if you have a M6 and have not upgraded the clutch that is something that you will have to do that will also bump up the cost...and the 10bolt "should" go does not have to just stay on street tires and you should be fine.

You can purchase one of my kits, but you will need some extra goodiews to go along with it. With 6000...that would be enough to buy a good kit. Just dont break anything

Gonna cost way more than 6 grand to get a car setup to handle that safely, assuming you have traction. Motor and drivetrain take a serious beating with excessive boost levels.

I spent close to 9 grand on with my sts kit. But I paid $1600 for install of the kit, fuel pump, upgraded valvesprings, gauges, everything. That also included 700 for the pod, boost, fuel psi, and AEM wideband gauges too. If you're going to do it yourself you can save money although I would recommend getting it professionally tuned. I would highly recommend a racetronix fuel pump/harness, upgrading the injectors, and possibly the valvetrain. Also, go with at least the gt67 turbo upgrade. That way you have the building blocks to go with more boost later if you want. If you install yourself you might be safe with $6500-$7000.
As far as reliability...I love my kit. I've had it for about a year and have put over 12k miles on it. I drive 50miles roundtrip to work everyday. Mileage is within 1.5 psi of what I used to get and that's with me getting into it sometimes. I've had two problems. I was running in the rain without the water shield and water got up to the MAF and so I had to drop the pipe and clean the MAF. Haven't had a problem since I got the water shield. Also, I had an eibach pro-kit on the car and only had 1.75" of clearance on the pipe where it bends up into the engine bay. That pipe got beat to hell before I figured out where all the low points are in my neighborhood. Since then I've raised my car back up and it barely scrapes on some things now.

Oh yeah, like someobody said above, you want to definately make sure you have traction. I would seriously invest in upgrading your suspension first if you have not already done so.

JAvenger007

I'm on the SLP Eibachs now but I installed QA1 shocks and spent all day adjusting them to get about 2.75" of clearance (+1") on the front. That was fun when I first put them on, I adjusted it, set the car down, pushed on it, and it was at 2.75 inches. Drove it the alignment shop and the couldn't put it on the rack because it had settled 1.25"! I had to readjust, drive around, measure and repeat until I finally got it where I wanted it.

I would recommend saving your 6k until you have atleast 8 to play around with. Judging by your signature I say you should fix your trans first, because throwing another 100hp+/100tq+ at it wont make it easier. There are alot of unknown/expected things you have to do when you get a turbo kit:
- tap your pan
- tap the oil source
- i-pipe exhaust? (on some kits its provided though)
- Dyno tune or tuning software <------ $$$$ (people forget that one)
- Fuel
*Pump
*Injectors
- Guages
The list goes on and on! And it adds up. So I really really really commend saving. Also if you plan on, in the future, getting new heads just save up until you can buy it all at once. Do all the labor at once, and then tune it all at once. Because if you swap heads later down the road you will most likely need a new tune (due to compression drop), and it will cost you another bundle of $.

whats so lame about a H/C and stall car?? the way i see it you spend half the money and get the same amount of power that way..sure its cool to have a turbo kit but i wouldn't say a H/C car is lame

I agree, but there is alot more room to expand with a turbo kit.

IE: Boost Controller Up....more power...Boost Controller Down...less power...plus that BOV going off is just awsome.

yeah i agree with you..i want a turbo kit but they cost to much so i will probably just do h/c and nitrous..its nice to be able to adjust the power with a turbo and they sound pretty cool to but i dont think i will ever be able to afford one

Its not a matter of getting in the game, its a matter of staying in the game. Just my 2 cents.

The nice thing about a turbo kit is that it is easily upgradable (tuning aside). The nice thing about my sts kit is that my mileage is pretty much unaffected and theoretically it's smog legal (barring a few little changes I'll have to do) which is needed in Cali. I'd love to do a H/C but a turbo made more sense, stock until you pin it!
