Default boost valvesprings....

ok after my ling misfire ordeal, it isn't anything concerning fuel or ignition, i think i've got a weak spring or maybe 2. please post up your hydraulic roller valvespring specs! it's got patriot golds on it right now, they worked awesome for 5 months but it seems i've got one that's weak.

the car gets to 7psi almost regardless of RPM and starts pushing fresh air past the 02 sensor. it doesn't smoke, rattle, smell funny, leak, have coolant in the oil, gets 15mpg, and still has enough power on 7 cylinders to make serious tire smoke but WTF!

i'd ideally like to run 24psi max with my current setup.

just tell me what a guy has to do!

Gunnar from patriot has been taking awesome care of me so far, but before i go any further with the gold springs, i want to make sure there isn't something i SHOULD be running instead

For your setup I would personally run around 180 closed 410 open.

What Jim said. That's why I ran .100 longer valves in my 6.0 heads so I could get my springs set up right without having coil bind.

What diameter spring can you fit on your heads? That's the first question. I ran Crane 832's and then Comp 977's. Now with the AllPro's I have a set of Rev springs.

FYI i run Patriot Golds also........ 174 closed.....

Pulled them off when we went thru the whole to much back pressure ordeal with the GT42... ordered a set of Comp 921's....... Compared by to different shops not told the brands the Patriots had better closed and open seat pressure.

My 918's are working at 10psi on the stock gto cam up to at least 7krpm. I haven't run it over that, because hp peaks at 6400 anyway. I'm planning to go to a bigger cam, so I guess I will find out where they fail.

None of you have higher spring force on exhaust?

I always set them up equally. I suppose you could run less pressure on the intake as it's in a much better position closing as the compression cycle starts rather than the exhaust closing as the intake is opening, but the intake valve is also heavier.

What about the backpressure from the Turbo, say your boosting 15,then you will have maybe 25psi tryng to open the exhaust valve?

sorry,for stealing your thread

Well yes, I thought I touched on that in my previoius response. I guess I'm looking at it the opposite way, as why run less on the intake, especially when you have better spring stability when running within .060 or so of coil bind. (so what would be the purpose of removing intake shim to reduce pressure and increase coil bind clearance).
