Default Simple boosting question

Ok, I am sure I am gonna get some flack on his, but over the winter I am saving up my money and am buying a Z28 come march. I think my plans for the car is to supercharge it and try to gt around 450 rwhp. I have always been a fan of the ls1's bu am curious. Is an lt1 a better supercharging motor or is the ls1 stronger for boosting? tahkns everyone

LS1 is easier to make big power with and it is aluminum. Do a little search for specifics.

The LT1 is an iron block vs LS1's aluminium, however neither has forged components so I doubt one is 'stronger' for boosting than the other. I vote LS1 fasho.

ls1 is a better motor... but lt1 has less head lifting issues...

when you go stock with boost.. go ls1... beyond cost i really cant think of two many reasons to go with anything besides the ls1..

LT1 is a cheaper car... parts generaly cheaper (damn near the same thing as a GEN 1)... it all comes to how deep is your pocket book (or better yet.. how good is your credit?)...

I have the lt1.. the car was a graduation present... an i have about $5300 into a turbo setup... but it is not running yet so no pics =(

450 rwhp with an LS1 engine is easy with just 8 psi of ATI ProCharger boost. With a good tune is will be a very reliable combination that can still be taken on vacations and will deliver excellent gas mileage.
The LT1 engine has the very trouble prone opti-spark ignition, and it will take more than 8 psi of boost to make 450 rwhp, at least on my dyno.
A stock LT1 f body on my Mustang dyno makes 190 rwhp, while the LS1 makes 260 to 280 rwhp. Bob

Get the LS1 and be done with it.

+1 LS1, had an LT1, took a lot more modifying to make the same power as the LS1.

After having a third gen, LT1 and now LS1, I can fully understand why the older TBI/TPI and even LT1 guys always say the LS1 is the "cats meow". Get it.
