I've often wondered why no one has taken cues from that GM prototype car with the baby LT1 (same physical dimension as 5.7 LT1). It would be sweet to see something like that for the LT1 current day Oops, almost forgot this is about the LS1

The reason is that in order to reliably install a S/C on an LT1, the pistons need to be upgraded to something stronger. This changes it from a "bolt on kit" to a complete major rebuild.
The LS1 has a much stronger piston installed at the factory, so bolting on a S/C making up to about 10 PSI is not a concern.

Where are you locating the coolant reservoir tank on the F-body? The C5 vette has the coolant tank mounted on top of the battery. Are you using the same coolant tank as the C5 vette?

I'm installing an intercooled kit now on an otherwise stock '99 Trans Am, which made 280RWHP stock so this will give a good indication of what the typical customer can expect.

Sebastian, let me know if you had any other questions, or if that answered it for you.

Here is a pic of the I/C kit, let me know if I can answer any questions,

Is it hard to lower the k-member without using a lift? I see that there are six bolts that attach it to the unibody. Can this be done with the car on jack stands and a floor jack to lower the k-member? Where exactly does the heat exchanger for the intercooler get mounted?

Thumbs up

I have stepped up to become a sponsor here, and am currently working towards getting 10 kits ready for sale, which should be ready in the next couple of weeks.

I would like to put a list together of members that have serious interest in this kit, as I intend to offer some special introductory pricing, and would like to offer that deal to the guys that have been waiting for this. Anybody that would like to be included, please post up, and I wil put your name on the list.

Here is a list of the kits contents:

(1) complete intercooled Magnuson C5 supercharger kit, including the standard 112 supercharger, intake manifold, intercooler, heat exchanger, pump & reservoir
(8) high flow 48 lb hr injectors
(1) Racetronix in tank fuel pump kit
(1) K&N FIPK air induction kit
(1) custom EFILive tune (tune will be created to work with existing mods)
(1) Late Model Speed F-body install kit, complete with template, and full color detailed instructions.

I will post exact pricing later this week, but I anticipate the price to be somewhere in the $6.5K range. I have said all along that I wanted to price these kits similar to the Corvette kit which is $6K, and on these first 10 kits, that's where I think the price needs to be. If it turns out that I can't sell them that cheap, then I will re-evaluate the pricing, and adjust it on the next batch of kits. I think it's imortant that the guys that have been waiting for this all of this time, should be able to get one for the same price as a Corvette kit.

Pleasse feel free to post, or PM me with any questions, and I will try to answer them for you.

Thanks!

I'd like to know this too, and how lowering the K-Member effects the suspension geometry.

Please respond.

Oh, I'd like to add I have a great interest(subscribed) in following your progress VIA the "start to finish" thread in the Sponsors Forum, but we cannot post in it, and you have not updated it since the original post.

A real start to finish with photos would be great-I'm imagining something along the lines of a LS1howto write up, perhaps not as detailed, but you get my meaning.

Thanks again.

That's cool but I thought Ed was going to offer a solution for direct port nitrous. The posted link doesn't look like it would support that.

Man, I really want one of these on my car. The amount of under the curve power they produce is unparalleled. Not many people have them though, makes it a hard decision. If not for the k-member lift I think it would be an easier decision.

This thread is way old and you don't want to buy anything from Ed anyway.
