Prostock??? I guess with the money in those things the corprate boards would just hire someone who could shift.

Dang, 750rwhp pushed 3170lbs to 17x mph....that's impressive even for the lower Mustang Dyno!

What would be interesting would be to come up two generalizations, though folks have used a few kinds of dynos so that would make it tricky. But it would be interesting to see if there is some sort of ratio that generally true that shows (a) the consistent difference between A3//A4's vs. M6's, and (b) the difference between Mustang dynos and Dynojets... Oh and if there is a pattern as to how much weight is affecting performance...

PSJ, as you probably know, how hard an automatic launches depends greatly on its STR(Stall torque rating). A STR of 2.5 will torque multiply by that amount until it is in motion. A higher STR will hit the tires hard but can take longer to recover or engage down track. A high STR will usually have lower MPH but will 60ft great. We see that on the dyno and the result is a much lower RWHP.

I never got an exact STR when I got my converter from Neil Chance but when they sell a 4000 stall designed for your application, they said it will start locking up at 4100. On the dyno and from what the track shows, I have only 5.9% slippage.

You get what you pay for when it comes to an automatic converter.

Interesting thread for sure. I don't think anyone is surprised by the drag strip advantage of an auto. The future may even have an A4 in it for me if I can't get satisfactory results at the strip after installing the turbo setup.

Of course the A2's and A3's are stonger but when you like to make the 30 miles of highway trek occasionally to work or drive 4 hours to the beach in the summer, suddenly the 2 and 3 speeds don't seem very nice...

I'll leave them to the trailer queens...
