About to purchase....P or D?
With this topic, it seems worth asking. The price delta between the P and D blower are about 200 dollars....why not go with the D1?
Compressor map reasons? Saying at 7-9psi the P1 is just more efficient on 347 CID?
Also, i'm going to buy a set of green tops, a 255lph fuel pump and HP Tuners and the 2 bar map, wide band (AEM's) and a Apexi boost gauge. Any other things I need to look at buying with this project?

I know it isn't an apples to apples, but I am running a P1 on my 05 GTO LS2 car. am running 12 psi@6800 RPM's with 23 degrees of timing, Alky and a rich 10.5 AFR and did 650hp/540tq and I still have more RPM left in the blower asI am currently at 58k and change for RPM's. agree, the more the motor flows and the lower the compression, the less the blower will be abe to keep up. I don't have the link but Cartek has a vette in the 9's with a P1.

I have an 02 Z06 with an A&A P1. Mods are 224/228 .581/.588 114, supermaxx LT's with cats, Borla cat back and fuel upgrades. I made 632/517 at 10lbs at 6,600 with a 4.10 pulley, 14* total timing and below a 10.0:1 afr. It was off the chart rich. We didn't tune any more from there due to fear of the stock block. I put in ECS's restrictor plate and made 550/500 with 6lbs tuned with 14* total. I have pullied down to a 3.85 pulley and I am adding ECS's meth kit. I also hogged out 3/16th" of the restrictor. So I should see 9lbs. I will be adding the meth and getting a retune tomorrow. I am looking for 600/550 restricted. I am pretty sure I could get 650rw with some more timing and the correct afr. But I am not going to try. Still on stock block.

I bought the car with the P1 on it. I will prolly stick with it for now but ive seen a few used D1's and im antsy. Reading the boards some people dont get over 550rwhp and say there maxed out. I dont wnat to end up with that problem. Im making 426 now and im doing 6#s and nothing else done to car which makes me confindent that it will hit 500 with no problems and not close to max. Its over 550 thats worries me.

For those thinking about buying an ATI kit remember the $200 in the beginning for the D1-SC upgrade is only in the beginning.... after you purchase your kit you pay retail for the D1-SC when its time to upgrade....
Alot of you its belt slip.... even with ATI's 8 rib setup......
KP can vouch for that.... the only kit ive seen not have belt slip is the same setup i used before and KP is still using. The SDCE spring tensioned 8 rib setup.

The SDCE modification to the ATI bracket merely adds a spring tensioner to the existing setup. It does not significantly increase beltwrap, which is already excellent. The spring tensioner takes up belt growth at rpm. As the ATI setup uses a very short belt, growth is not much of an issue. Manually tensioning the belt can apply more preload than the spring tensioner. In nearly all cases properly tensioning the ATI bracket eliminates boost limiting slip. It should be readjusted after a new belt has had a bit of time to run in.

Im purchashing the sdce kit over winter sometime soon (8 rib). 600+ at wheels is very impressive with P1SC and i would kill for that. I would of bought the D1SC kit if i was original purchaser and just changed pullies to lower boost but i bought car with P1SC but im still happy. My goal is 600rwhp w/ h/c swap next year or so.

I think the people recommend the d1 vs p1 is that it will make more power due it taking less effort to make the same boost. Anything less than 12 psi I would go with a p1sc but thats come from a 4.6 it will take alot more effort to make 12psi on the bigger displacement.

ok so the p1sc is a good blower for 500-600 hp right??? know just tell me what to do it get there!!!! and ill be the proof!!! i got a 2000 z with the p on all ready with fuel system upgrade(42lb injs and 225 wibor fuel pump) what else do i need the car is an a4. lets here it guys!! yall tell me what i need and soon as i great back from lraq ill put it to the test!!!!!!!!!!!

The P-1SC has to be spun harder to make 8 psi of boost, than the D-1SC does. You can make over 500 rwhp with the P-1SC, but you are pushing it. The D-1SC on the other hand, doesn't get maxed out until over 700 rwhp.
The P-1SC kit for the LS1 F Body cars comes with the smaller 3.5" twin hi flow intercoolers and the six rib belt assembly as standard equipment. You can option the P-1SC into larger 4.5" intercoolers and into the 8 rib belt assembly, but you will end up paying more than you would for the D-1SC kit. Bob
