Default What stall with a big single mount?

I understand about peak torque rule but won't the turbo spool quiker with a lower stall to load the turbo more? I am going to run a t76 front mount and have a 3500 stall I bought for it. Now I am wondering if went too big. I have 2.73 gears in it. But that may change. I am just finishing putting it together so I have no seat time in it yet. Just trying to save time of having to pull it and restall it. Thanks for any suggestions!

for street use, i feel that maybe you went a bit too much on the stall. However, a stall mas to be matched with more factors than just peak trq. In this, i believe spool time with you that t76 is important, its a/r, how restrictive is your current intake/exhaust, peak rpm range, cam spec, etc.

Im really no expert, but i would probably have the verter shop just restall it for ya for maybe a 3k or a 2800 stall. That should yield a better feel while driving around town and help build up boost.

i had a pt88 mid frame and my stall was at about 5000 to 5500, but i rev to about 8000 too. so it just depends on your combo. but i would leave your stall alone, it will come up nice.

Sometimes.... but I went th400, and it does't take a miracle builder to get one that works with high HP like Chance; these things have been built and raced forever now.

Well if the converter is too tight then it takes longer to climb rpms right?

right, you flash through the rpms slower or less. But, my question, dont you need that extra, slower climb to build boost? I thnk it all depends on your effective range of power.

otherwhitemeat revs to 8k, so he can get away with a 5k stall and still have an average of 3k to play with. I you plan to shift at 6500, then a 5k is to high since you'll an average of 1500rpms to build boost without shock.

Or i could be completely wrong, i dont know?!!

it grabs better. it holds better.

lemme kinda describe how much harder it grabs, when my converter locks up, it literally feels like its another gear change and you can almost see it on the outside watching my car.

Let's use an extreme example.... A stock converter vs. a 4500 stall. A stock converter will be much tigher, and take longer to get into boost/power band. A big loose converter will get that quicker but it may be at the risk of it being very loose up top. I would not go too tight on a stall but I think that it's a matter of doing research. My current verter is the same one as I had on blower. And it feels tighter with the turbo.
