I say it wouldnt hurt...But at the same time what about guys like Worm Boy and Last LS1, did/do they run girdles? I guess Im what Im trying to figure out as well is, when exactly is the girdle (or even doweling) recommended.

We had an iron block with stock caps and a girdle making 1500+. When tore down the bearings were great but the caps had been walking. I had a LS2 block with stock caps and no girdle. Making 1300+. When tore down the bearings were good but the caps had walked.
One of the new motors ERL/W2W is building for us will have doweled billet mains and the W2W girdle. Were shooting for 1800+ though.

I know what you mean. If you seen the ones that came off my LS2 you would think the bearings would be junk. But even after all those passes at that power. The bearings were like new.

Still be bale to run the motor?? Notice anything different while running it???

That hp was fwhp and was about the W2W girdle. I'm not going to be running one on my new TA motor this season. So we will have a good comparison between the two. Mine will have doweled billet mains though.
If your only making a 1000hp you have nothing to worry about.

But that's a good thing!
It seems that 4 digit real wheel horsepower numbers are at the edge of but within the realm of the stock LS1/6 block.
