Default Learn me how to Procharge! Please!!

Hi Im new to supercharging! I need to know everything!

I want to get a 402 Iron block with partriot Heads, I know I need a BIG fuel system, and BIGGER injectors.

I want to go with a bigger than D-1SC Head unit. I've heard people on here saying FI is expensive to get into and stay in, I understand the inital cost of getting into FI (engine, supercharge system, fuel system, building the car to handel the power, ect....) What is involved in staying in FI?? Dose a FI car need constant tuning?? If the car is built right from the beggining What is all involved in in up keep? I plan on talking to BOB at EPP about my needs just trying to do some home work first! Thanks!!!

Can you order a Procharger kit D-1SC and upgrade the Head unit?

Any tips and info would be greatly appriciated!!!! Thanks again!

you will probably be gettin into an F1 or F1-R procharger with a 402 cid. u really dont want to get a d1sc kit because the only thing u can use is the bracket. (procharger doesnt make a kit for big LS1's)
The intercoolers are no good for that big of setup. too small. just the f-1 blower itself is like $3G's. id talk to bob @ epp to get this stuff. he'll hook u up with a nice front mount intercooler setup. i got mine from him.
once everything is on and tuned, its not to bad to keep up. its not as much work as a turbo car, as you gotta tinker with them a lil more it seems. but with everything else, u gotta keep your eye on things that make tons of power.
for the most part, my old setup was stock with a procharger kit and it was a turn key and drive anywhere car. no problems ever, and it was like that for 3 years. i finally rebuilt it because i wanted more power. like stock driving til u mashed it.

I will take 2 questions. Once tuned the car should be fine and not need further tuning. Unless whoever did it the first time did not know his job (it happened to me), or if you start messing with meth, etc. The D1SC cannot be upgraded to the next higher S/C which is the F1. Therefore plan accordingly.

The F1/F1A head units use a different housing than their smaller brothers, so a P-1SC/D-1SC cannot be sent in and made into an F1 type of blower.

When the ProCharger kit is initially ordered, we can substitute an F1/F1A for the D-1SC in the kit for an approx upgrade price of $440.00.

I can also upgrade you into our front mount kit for an additional $350.00 price over the ProCharger price. Bob

First off Thanks for all the info, It's very helpful.

With the front mount intercooler is their any way to keep the fog lights?

With the F-1 or the F-1R is their anyway to safely put it on my stock cube engine untill I can get a 402 stroker? I do have 68cc chambers on my partriot heads? How much boost can this combination handle (I will have a nasty fuel system on it b4 I charge it)??

Can a Slp 402 shortblock handle 1000hp at the flywheel?

We retained the foglights on one customer's LT1, but it does somewhat limit airflow. With the front cut-out, you should see enough airflow though.
You could short shift your car to keep the rpm down until you get a forged bottom end. The stock bottom end should be kept around 8 psi, we've pushed 10 psi before, but I don't recommend it. Your 68cc heads wouldn't pose a problem.
The SLP 402 isn't rated for 1000 flywheel hp, but I don't see why it can't handle it, as SLP uses the same internal components that many companies use for engines pushing a lot of power.
We've built engines at our shop that are close to 1000 flywheel hp retaining the aluminum block and factory crank. These LS engines are pretty stout! Bob

should i upgrade to the stage 3s with 72cc chambers? Patriot #2019??

You going to want to upgrade to a stage 3 head for the 402 and the power level you'll going to be pushing.

Once again your web sit amazes me!! Great material!!

I do have full subframe connectors, toruqe arm with relocate off tranny, Lower control arms, Pahhard bar, And strut tower brace.

The biggest mods I need now are; Fuel sytem, 9" rear & driveshaft, Blower and motor!

I just rebuilt my tranny to factory specs, so I pan on running that till it blows and getting another one made by RPM.

Can anyone think of what else I might need??
