Top ring to use for forced induction?
Hi
I am building a 346 LS1 soon.
with Eagle 6.125 H-beams rods , diamond -8.6 pistons and the stock crank.
OK i have The diamond piston ring set,
But i keep on hearing something about a chrome top ring for forced induction, is it better than what comes in the Diamond ring kit?
what brand is it how much , and where can i get them
thanks for the help

When you order diamond rings, you need to specify "blower." Diamond sells Total Seal Stainless top rings when specified, it costs more then normal.
Course I have a very competitive price on these
However these rings we have noticed have little room for error, when it comes to cylinder wall surface.

HI bob,
OK i will get the part# off the Diamond ring package,
Why so important the Chrome top Ring? with the forced induction
Are all the other rings the same from package to package?
Would you or Diamond exchange them for the right ones?
what would be the Price differance, are these total seal in a Diamond package?

To be quite honest, I don't even know how much they are. The guys at LME built my short block, and they highly suggested them. These guys know their stuff. I can tell you that while I've been tuning, I have had a couple of "OH MY GOD....WHAT DID MY AFR JUST HIT?!?!" moments. And the rings are holding just fine.
(don't mind me as I knock on wood!)

Tal to the ring manufacturers. They were very helpful in explaining all of these questions I had about some of the specific rings etc... The Hell Fire rings will hold up, but I think they wear a little more on the cyclinder wall than some of the other choices from what I remember when I was doing research. And when I say that don't freak out and think that you are only going to get 5000 miles out of the motor it isn't that big of a difference we are talking very small amounts of differences. But if you want to know for yourself give one or a few of the ring manufactures a call and tell them what you want and they will tell you what you should use or give you a few choices depending on your goals and longevity.
