Default how much timing with .....

if you regularly run a bottle of torco with a full tank of gas, on a 8.5:1 forged motor, then switch to straight C16 race gas and 50/50 water/alcohol injection as well as swap from TR6 plugs to TR8's , how much timimg can you run ? and what would happen if you don't?

and how fast are wideband O2's ruined by C16?

Maybe you should give us a clue how much boost you are running? Maybe the bore and stroke of the motor could be helpful as well. Hell, the chamber volume of the heads and the dish of the pistons can even make a difference. Also, different brands of wideband sensors have dramatically different lead tolerances.

Denso O2's will hold up the best. But they will still be on borrowed time due to the lead contents in the fuel. Timing can be as agressive as you want it to be. Problem is your going to end up lifting the heads. Ballpark 23 to 25.

thanks, the engine is an ironblock 408 at 13 to 15 psi from an F1-R , chamber volume is around 72 cc and dish is at -29 cc .

would "too much" octane cause the car to back fire under WOT?

If you are very lucky, "backfire" under wide open throttle is just valve float. I would guess, however, that you may have mechanical problems. Also, the previously posted timing sound good, however, I believe NTK has the most lead tolerant O2 sensors right now. I read somewhere that you may get up to 500 hours of use before significant degradation. I believe the VW sensors that are common with lm-1's are good for close to 100 hours. And the stock narrowband sensors are probably only good for a few minutes of lead.

Either way I would stick with motorsport 109 and not have to worry about leaded fuel. Plently of people make a 800 + on Pump gas. But for a insurance policy I always run a mix. And when I wan to go all out I run striaght VP MS 109.

cool , the reason i ask is lat race i nailed the car and it just kept back firing, i swapped the plugs to tr6's and drained the c16 and replaced it with 5 gallons of gas and torco and it ran better without missfiring , but not up to what it used to do in the 1/4 .
i'm trying to figure out what is going on , but i just keep hitting walls.

backfiring like that is also indicative of a lean mixture...

Get a wideband onto it and check your fuelling. Dont be making guesses.

it has a wide band on it, the funny thing is that the last run it was reading 18:1 , but it didn't back fire ( assuming the sensor is toast) , i checked the plugs to verify and they seemed fine.

took the car out today and it was runing ok with no misfires at all , i logged my WOT's and even with 27 deg of timing i was getting no KR .

could the back firing be because the car had little timing in it with the C16 and the alki injection as well as the car not being up to temp when i made that run???

could the high stall i just put in (stalls to 3000 rpm, PE kicks in at the same rpm), coupled with shot O2's cause the missfire when stalling?

Factory 02 sensors become sluggish pretty quickly if you run leaded gas. They will start becoming sluggish with just a few gallons of leaded, and will be dead (in my experience) if you run a tankful of leaded.

The amount of timing you run on C16 is dependent on your combo. A combo like Tom Kempf's combo (which might be using C16) is probably making 1400hp with it but I doubt that guys making 1000hp with it are running the same timing... too many variables. I've heard of a number of 800-1000hp guys running essentially stock timing with C16, but again, that's contingent on many different factors.
