AMAZING! im gonna tackle it this week dosent sound to bad, only annoying part will be pulling the crank pulley off then taking off teh timing cover then puting the crank pully back on, or can i just put the jack stand under the crank without the pulley on it?

If your going to do it that way might as well leave the pulley on.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that use a 2x4 across the shock towers, a bolt in the front of each head, and a chain going over the 2x4 to the bolts. That'll hold the motor up while you drop the k-member.

Or you can invest some money and get one of these...

Nahhh, pouring water through your engines internal parts is a wonderful idea. That's why NASCAR uses water instead of oil, it's also thinner, so you gain more of teh horsies.

I would never drill the pan on the car! I know others have but I'm pretty ****. I think you can take out the motor mount bolts and jack up the engine and get the pan off. I all ways pull the motor, but I've had it out so many times I feel like there's a zipper on it! lol.

The pickup tube stays with the motor, you won't take it off. Besides, you wouldn't be able to remove the pickup tube until you removed its mounting bracket under one of the nuts on the main bearing cap bolts. You wouldn't be able to (easily) remove that nut without removing the pan.

Too bad you weren't closer, I'd stop by and lend you a hand!

I didnt even do all that when I dropped my pan... I left the steering column and the brake lines attached, and it came out fine, you really dont need to lower it that much.

if u didnt put ur heads on yet and could lift your motor up that way isnt to hard.more room.. thats waht i did with mine i wasnt taking the chance of metal floating around in there cuz theres a lot when u drill it

I agree with pulling the pan. It may be possible to do it on the car and not have problems but I would say its more luck that you get most of the shavings. Im about to do it myself. After dropping the motor it doesnt seem to hard.

good luck.

think about it though.. its ahs to go throug ha fine screen on the oil pickup... then strait to the filter..... the chances of something getting through are fairly slim.... and take the time to flush it out and do a couple oil changes right after

not the best or safest way but it can be done. preferably you know it is better to take the pan off. good luck.
Your pan is aluminum and magnet wont pick up aluminum...
