It doesnt cost a lot to o-ring them. Problem is once you do that are worthless to just about anyone so I like to make sure its going to help on these. i would rather o-ring the block, but I dont know if you can with LS block. I have had plenty of o-ringed heads/blocks with copper gaskets but years ago when I tried O-rings with steel shim gaskets on my nitrous SBCs I never had much luck.

I just havent heard of a lot of people doing this on LSx engines with MLS gaskets, I have no problem doing it if it solves the problem. So besides mike who is making a crapload of passes at 20+ pci with an LS1 with o-ringed heads and MLS gaskets?

i've been also looking at that class, and the heads limited to 221 max(ported or as cast), are you planning on a different head then you run now?

Yes, since I have the heads off now its the time to look into it.

only 'legal' aftermarket casting is the AFR 205 and I have no idea how they measure CC wise out of the box and if they can be opened up a little more.

The dart 225s actually measure in the low 230s but I think even a decently ported set of LS2 heads with good valves at arounf 218cc would be just fine. I woudnt be the fastest car but could qualify in the top half no probllem I think. Just looking for something to do and that class fits mt car pretty well.

yeah thats what i was thinking..if you can run a consistent mid-low 9 you can be fairly competative in this class. good luck if you run some events this year

I think I could do that pretty easy even on stock heads, I tested a little with the 11.5x28 ET streets last year and I can hook them on a good track. I would have to change to some kind of dual 3" exhaust (I have a Y into a single 4" muffler now) and it looks like they may be adding another 100lbs so i would have to be 3550 with the IC and BS3 so I'd have to add about 120lbs to the car.

Then again I may just be lazy and run the new EFI index class, it goes down to 9.50 and it will be just LS1 cars, SN mustangs and the new hemi cars. If they have the same paout as open comp with contingencies its a better deal really since I can leave what I have on it..

If I can find someone local to cut the grooves I may try it, if not they go right back on and I'll see what happens with some C16 and a little richer a/f.

Well if you ran 141 on pump gas and no meth I'm sure you had enough boost to detonate it.

I wouldnt be trying that very often

14psi. with the cutoff closed, so it was down to about 11 psi well before redline. i really cant explain my mph....but it makes me smile. woulda been 145 if i had the gear. the engines apart, and i was told there was no signs of det, which doesnt necessarily mean it definitely wasn't, but just passing along my info
