Pump Gas Drags
like i said my car isn't legal, so i didnt and never would have filled out an application.
i wouldnt want to take up the spot of someone (hopefully from the ls1 community) that was fast AND legal, and had a shot to do well.
found this on hot rod website
* Safety: Competitors must meet NHRA safety requirements for the quarter-mile speed and/or e.t. the vehicle is capable of. You will not be invited to the Pump Gas Drags(TM) if your vehicle clearly does not meet safety rules, i.e., no rollbar or rollcage. NHRA safety rules will be enforced by the Memphis Motorsports Park tech inspector. During tech inspection each car will be assigned a lowest legal e.t.; cars that run quicker than their tech'd e.t. in qualifying or eliminations will be disqualified.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
but from what i heard last both guys that live by me, the TT 80 camaro and the single turbo 70 nova got invited back and they both have made some changes so im pulling for them
im planning on being there so good luck with whatever happens with the cage Yes, I will race even if I know I can't win...but I would at least want to compete. Going out there and getting kicked out for going to fast or just running 12's in a 8-9sec competition is a waste IMO.
Come to think of it I guess MM is the only 9 second LS1 manual transmission forced induction car, only other one i know of is Jim's from Speed inc but he is an LT1..
definitely one of the cool races to watch.
wonder if pump gas plus methanol is allowed. it would probably take a 3300 lb f body car with cage and have the amount of power you pushed with a powerglide to kick some serious ***.
too bad the dart blocks or gmpp blocks are released yet.
Since I have a Most Legit Pump Gas Drags jacket from last year I know a thing or 2 about it. There are alot of VERY legit street cars there, most dont have A/C and they can get decent gas mileage. 99% of them are power adder cars which means hardly any gear ,tight converters and tall tires which equals good manners on the road.
Alot of these cars also particapate in Drag Week which is 1500 miles so your 1300 mile trip isnt that impressive.
I would be VERY suprised if your untested M6 car runs 9's. I've seen MM's combo make alot of passes and its not as easy as you may think to get all that power down the track.
With all that said show up and try to win the most legit 10 second street car jacket. You still need a 5pt bar for that.
I'll see you there we are bringing 2 LS1 nitrous cars that will be ready to run low 9's or so

Shiz is going to shoot for 90.-8.9 down there hopefully the motor holds up on pump gas
That might get him in the top 15.I think consistant mid 8's will be the winning time. Winner last year went 8.48 @161
