A guy on page 2 of this thread referenced that guy's car in AZ.... well look at his other thread, that guy has engine problems.
I think 700rwhp is probably as safe as it can get for most folks on pump gas, and even then you'd need to keep an eye on stuff.
And making big power and running a heavy car puts a ton of load on that setup, runs a lot hotter on the street with 2-3 guys in the car and 100 lbs of subs in the back.

I'm not sure how the overheating worked out... But the fuel problem was his biggest ordeal relating to the engine... And it's because (we think) he is one or two fuel components short of having a good build...
I don't know for certain, but I don't think he detonated because of pump gas.. I think the fuel system couldn't keep up, and he had the boost **** cranked up.

you CAN NOT run infinite horsepower with pump gas just because the tune is correct.
Does everyone agree with that?
this means there is a LIMIT to how much horsepower you can make for a given combination, I passed that limit for my combination, and it was NOT worth any amount of internet glory that came along with it.

lol you keep trying to teach them and they don't want to learn from other's mistakes, there is two people here that tried and already paid the price. Some people just don't get it.
If my boost goes up, so does the octane... not worth the risk

What kind of turbo did Parish use? He ever dyno on race gas?
And there is another guy making like 850whp on pump and 20psi. Nasty Turbo is in that area somewhere... Borg Warner baby!!

i know what happened when my alky kit didnt work.....BOOM. Actually, it was a more powerful pump/setup but i sold the smaller/less attractive setup with my incon kit because it was RELIABLE and didnt want the new owner to buy a new motor like i had to.
Pump and alky can make great power...big power but it seems like you got a little more cushion with c16.

I did 842rwhp 17 psi..... it was 3 psi more then my pump 93 setting.... i cruise around on 14psi with pump 93....
But for that pull i added about 4 gallons of 110 in the tank....to mic with the 93....
20+ PSI for me will be on nothing but C16... 117 octane fuel....

If it doesn't detonate, what else could cause engine damage due to pump gas? http://www.procharger.com/1685_dyno.shtml

I can see most making more power with compression closer to 8:1 then the 9:1 most shoot for.

Honestly, I think REAL racers (not me LOL) will push either fuel, those trying to get the best possible E.T. You can only get to the top with race gas, though... I don't think anyone is arguing this...
What this thread asks for is the limits of pump... And EVERY fuel HAS a limit, pump OR 117 octane.

the wise ones have spoken, now people take it from the people that tried the limits, i COULD make more power with more psi, but the bottom end would go. im NOT going to push the bottom end for 45 more rwhp. thats it, im happy with what it's at

Take care of that stock bottom... Selling your working stock longblock will help you buy the new forged shortblock.
