Default Is the P1SC Capable of real power?

I am currently running the second generation of the P1SC at a modest 7psi with the 4 3/8 pulley. My tuner felt that this unit was best since I was already modded and running a stock bottom end. My question is that if I do eventually forge the bottom end how much more boost is the P1SC capable of making? I would probably be fine with 10-12 psi so I would imagine that I would be fine with my current unit but I am not sure. I'd hate to have to sell this unit just to get a slightly larger D1SC being that my setup is only a few months old.

Yeah you can definitely make some power out of it... When the time comes though you can just send the P1 back to ATI and have them refresh it and put D1 internals in it...

We've made 700rwhp on a Z06 with one.The P1 is a very good blower,most people go with the D1 for no reason.

A local here made 550/540 with a bone stock 2002 Z06 with a borla catback. Only 9 psi. Not even headers. Cats and all.

Another friend of mine just made 544rwhp on a 2006 mustang gt with a low comp 347 stroker. He is only running 10 psi.

P1 will make good power but you might as well upgrade to the D1 for a little more room to grow if you want.

It was my understanding that a D1 is more efficient than a P1 and would make more power throughout the rpm range and produce boost sooner than the P1 even with the same step ratio. Is there any truth to this or will the D1 only produce an advantage over the P1 when it's limits are reached?

I would tend to agree with Slowhawk. The D-1 produces about 200 cfm more than the P-1. The P-1 is more than adequate for most applications. I could see a D-1 if you were large CI such as a 427 and could utilize the extra capacity of the D-1.

My 01 SS did 570 Rwhp through the 4L60 and the tiny SC1 blower grind. I disagree with some of you though, the D1 makes more power through out, has more room for future upgrades ect. for an extra $200. You would be stupid as I were not to opt for the D1 when ordering.

$200 now or $1200 later to send it back and have it upgraded.
