ATI balancer issue w/ procharger 8 rib

Default ATI balancer issue w/ procharger 8 rib

ATI revised their LS1 balancer, they no longer provide the bolt holes in the outter shell to incorperate the Procharger pulley. Using ATI P/N 917242

The hub still has the bolt holes

What you need to do is find 3/8" longer full threaded cap screw bolts or grade 8. Thread the bolts through holes in the dampner used for the AC pulley. The longer bolts allow you to attach the AC pulley.

Had a Fluidampr balancer at the shop, has bolt hole provisions for the procharger 8 rib, clear as day, but no keyway.

If a person has a ATI balancer without the A/C can they just buy the back 4rib pulley to bolt up to the balancer?
(Sorry kinda off subjects but they way you explained it you made it sound like this is the case)

Got any pics of this??? Seems kind of stupid that they would design it this way after many satisfied customers with the original one...

beats me, i'll have some pics tommorow, upon noticing this, I called ATI products, said I think I have a wrong boxed balancer shell, the guy was oh well i'll go grab one check it out call you back, FWIW never heard from them, I know my vm was working?

Looked it down somemore called ATI procharger, Mark there recently ran into this, its not a big deal, just need the correct fasteners. Certainly ate up some time...

I don't think the ProCharger pulley sits flush again the Fluidampr on the F Body's, which is
another reason why you can't use one. Bob

Heres a pic of the balancer



You will notice the holes are blocked off in the balancer, the hub has tapped holes.

You have to thread through the holes originally used for the AC pulley

Is this something that was just changed? I ordered my ATI balancer through speed inc using EPP's part #? Hopefully im good to go, ill have to look at it this weekend.

It was changed several months ago according to ATI.

Mine is a year old and is the same way (only three 'extra' holes in the damper), I dont use the a/c pulley but the 3 bolts thread right into the hub. The 'old' ones I had used seperate bolts for the a/c pulley and seperate bolts for an accessory pulley.

Here is a pic of the way they used to do it with the a/c pulley, I took this like 5 years ago..

Theirs no probems with the balancer, the reason why I posted this is for the very reason you mentioned. All you need is (IIRC) 5/8" course thread cap screw bolts that are 3/8" longer then the ones ATI procharger gives you with the pulley, I found these bolts at ACE, they don't need to be full thread either.
