I was expecting to see much better times in this thread. I thought I was the only one w/ horrible 60' times LOL. I still attribute my 2.0 & 2.1 60's to lack of seat time though. 2 or 3 times I've cut 1.7s, but usually I'm 2.0-2.1 on 255/50/16 MT DR's w/ ~12psi, Spec 5, eibach springs, Bilsteins, stk TQ arm, Spohn LCA's & relos, no 2 step. I would like to use a 2 step for consistency, still slip the clutch, and switch to 315/35/17 MT DR's if & when they come out, or BFG DR's same size if they don't, and then get a bunch of practice.

2.0+ is easy on pretty much any decent tyre IMO...

Going sub 2.0 is much harder ( I wouldnt class a MTDR etc as a street tyre BTW )
But then street tyre means very different things here in the UK. I class the MTDR's as race tyres.
I know I was never able to go sub 2.0 on a regular street tyre.

What sort of 60fts are you achieving then otherwhitemeat, and using what tyres ?

Ive seen a new Merc SL500 or something like that go sub 2.0 on road tyres, but that was an automatic.

Going sub 2.0 with normal tyres is pretty hard on a manual car !! Ive never seen a big heavy car do it.

Well, seven years ago, it had heads, cam, and related bolt-ons. Yes, it is a 6-speed and I was able to get it movin' pretty decent off of the line. I also disconnected the front sway bar as well to help keep some load on the tires.

i was interested mainly in street tires/drag radials in larger diameters(17/18) to see what others are doing.i had a friend show me how to leave in boost using all 3 pedals at the same time but its horrible for a clutch.lol.

stevieturbo how do you launch?

I turn 1.87 60's with MT drags leaving on no boost. Still trying to figure it out.

As I said....hardest Ive launced is circa 4500rpm, modulating the throttle, and letting the clutch out fairly slow ( perhaps over 1-1.5secs )

Most runs have been at lower rpm's though..

Mostly this has been for fear of smoking the tyres, but as I said, Im still exploring the grip of the DR's But when I get such little track time, I have to play safe and launch what I know will be consistent. ( plus concerns about the stock 27T output shaft )

Best I could muster on a 6-speed with BFG dragfs radials was 1.79

Also a firend of INTMD8's and I was running a clutch on a launch and the thing exploded and cut through one of the pedals with schrapnell. If you're going to launch at high RPM's I would definitely consider a REAL scatter shield. Losing a foot could put a quick stop to your 6-speed fun.

Cant you get Kevlar blankets for the bellhousing ?

There was a post ages ago on LS1Tech showing fitment of a full SFI bellhousing. Seems like a lot of work, although the guy did have to do some trimming to make it fit....which may have affected its legality.
