Going turbo!!...stay 408 or go 370??????
I want to go turbo, and I got a 408 in my car right now. Its set up for nitrous but, im gonna pull the motor here in the next couple of weeks (long story) While its out I can swap to a bigger dished piston, rebalance and freshen up. But if I go that route, should I throw a stock stroke crank back in to make a 370ci , or stay with a 408. I know that the 370 would make good power but yet be easier on the 60lb injectors and "stock style" fuel system. Where as the 408 would make more power than I could ever use as a street car, but it would take a engine management system with a low impedance injector to bring it up to its full potential costing me way to much. I want to make 750-800 rwhp, and still be streetable. Which route should I go???

Stick with the 408. 408 + Low boost = too much power to use on the street. I am already going to a GEN 7 DFI on my 370 and using a full Nasty N8 fuel system from the new tank on to the rails. You can have alot of fun with a bigger engine and less boost.

what kind of compression ratio shoud I shoot for? Im getting ready to order pistons, and I have 72cc heads that were milled .020, so they should be like 69-70cc now. What size injectors would feed this thing?

Interesting debate, I'm doing a S80 and was thinking about spending the money on a stroker crank. After talking with Jose I will be doing a 370. It will make way more then I can use on the street at lower boost and still be able to see 20+ psi without backpressure becoming a problem plus saves me $.
If I were you I would look into what A/R is available I believe you divided T6 housing flow the same as my S80.
Also take into consideration your top end, ported or aftermarket heads will flow much more thus creating more exhaust gasses.
Im sure there are plenty on this board with s series maybe they can share there experiences.

It depends on the turbo kit and what you have room for. A 408 and a 88 will get your goals, but if you ever pushed it hard it will see lots of backpressure. With a 370 you can stay 88mm and be more efficient or do with a small quicker spooling turbo and reach your goals also.

Yeah... the "bass boat" needs a 91mm turbo and a Fred Lankford engine. With that combo we'd definatly have an expensive piece of yard art.
