Default LOUD Scavenge Pump

I just bought a tilton scavenge pump and hooked it up and started the car for the first time. The thing is pretty loud...Can anyone confirm that these pumps are supposed to be loud.

By loud I mean maybe a little louder than a external fuel pump.

Not sure with that brand but most pumps running full speed will be loud if you slow them down a bit it will last longer and run quiter. Pm me for a link from a non-sponcer for a PWM controller

I can here mine when I key the ignition to "on" while I'm in the car, but once it's started I can't hear it at all.

Same here. I put it as far forward in the engine bay as possible without running too long of oil return lines to keep the noise down.

My mocal is noisy as **** also. Mounted as far forward as possible and still noisy as hell. At idle, if the radio is off and I really listen, I can pick out the scavenge pump. Nature of the beast though.

Yup. Mine is right behind the front air damn, attached to the lower radiator support, tucked up behind it.

Tilton pump btw if it matters.

Thats odd because I can't hear mine when the car is on even when I get out and walk around it. I do have a loudmouth though, so it may drone out the pump more. If the cutouts are open, I have no problems with scavenge pump noise, or whiny bitch noise emanating from the passenger seat either.

yea, mines pretty noisy too. You can definitely hear it when you cycle key on, but when you start the car, you can't hear it with cutouts open. With cutouts closed and exhaust through Borla out the back you can hear the pump at idle but once you start moving the noise is gone. Hope this helps!

thanks for the responses guys...I hooked mine up again today and started the car. I hooked it to the fuel pump wire so it primes for 2 seconds then shuts off when ignition on but runs constantly when the fuel pump is running.

I have borla also and I can't hear it when the car is idle but I can hear it very well with just the ignition on and not the engine.
