Turbo ignition coils: LS7 or Truck coils

Truck coils have been working great for us up past 1500hp. Go rent to home depot truck for $20 and do a quick swap, unless someone has already beat you to it

Honestly, I can't imagine why one would need different coils. They have been running forced induction systems on distributor cars with great success for a long time with just one coil. We now have 8x the charge time and that is more than enough to saturate the coil on any rpm we'll be using.
Of course that is a general statement. Is there a flaw in the LS1 coil design that was corrected in truck and LS7 coils?

What does my setup have to do with the question I ask? It seems that your post takes the tone of attacking my question, and I'm rather curious as to why.
The fastest I've run a 8.20s supercharged Nova with one coil..........
My current daily driver is twin turbocharged LS1 which uses a completely self designed and fabricated electronic sequential system. Yes, it's not finished but I just started working on it a little over a month ago and the exhaust and diverter valving has already been completed. Search for my build thread if you are curious.

Back in the day, folks like Kurt Urban were suggesting to use the truck coils since we could not increase the dwell time of the coils. The reccoemended truck coils are hotter and more sparky. At one time John Meany was rumored to be coming out with even sparkier coils but he might have shelved that.
I'm not sure if you can increase the dwell time with HPT or EFIL these days.

Ahhh, ok then that makes a lot more sense. A larger coil would take longer to break the field down to the spark would exist longer. I'll have to look at that InconFormula's 20 dollar coil mod then lol.

LOL they bolt right up. There are two or three kinds of truck coils, my reccollection is that the wrong ones are the ones with the heat sink.
