Not that its a big deal or anything since I have gone quicker and faster with a slightly larger cam, just agreeing with David that you dont need a big cam with forced induction to make plenty of power..

I may get slam to heck with this statement, BUT you may not need a large cam to go fast, but a big cam will make you go faster.
People are willing to pay $350 for a stock cam? Why? For another $100 (or less) you can get a one-off cam, spec'd for your set-up, your goals from our sponsors - W2W and Speed are just a couple. I bought mine from W2W last year and don't remember the price but I know it wasn't over $425. Stealth sound? Who cares. Mine is streetable - IMO no cam is NOT streetable - I have seen and heard some big *** cams on the street. Gas mileage - well maybe - but the most part who cares.
IMO bottom line. Get a cam that will work for your set up.

In some cases.....saying a big cam will make you go faster is a rather open ended statement.
Gas mileage ? quite important for me.
I chose a cam that will do both...a relatively small cam at that, 224/230 on 115
So I can manage high 20's mpg on a run, trap 148-149mph ( last year ) and still idle nicely at 800rpm.....
And should get better this year.
Now...convince me a bigger cam will do better than that ??

We split hairs alot about camshafts, and the fact is that most of us don't really have enough personal experience with enough different grinds to be able to make generalizations that are facts.
I'm sure someone with a lot of turbo experience will look at that cam oh say 'heck I'd run a lot more intake duration than that," or "121CL that cam is gonna peak at xxxx rpms."
OEM cams like that are cool because I'm thinking GM felt that that camshaft was the best compromise between driveability, fuel economy, and performance. Maybe they keep the intake duration on the lower side to keep midrange passing power and acceleration from getting wimpy.

Once again for the 11 millionth time the overall combination will dictate your power way more then a few degrees of camshaft duration here and there.
If you want a 'cool' idle put a big cam in. If you need the RPM put a big cam in. If you are looking for hundreths of a second or 5rwhp and you have extracted every bit of hp you can get a custom cam spec'd. You will see a definate trend of cars that run well no matter what size cam they have. If you are unsure of what to do there are plenty of places you can call and get a cam spec'd, it may or may not even be close to what you need but if it makes you sleep better at night then by all means do it.
Personally I subscribe to the 'less is more' philosophy on FI camshafts and the rest of the engine as well. Not that its the 'right' way to do it but it works for me for this particular car, and conversely there are good running bigass cammed FI setups so you pays your money and makes your choice.
