my 02 camaro sts project buildup progress--(pic)-
update. got all the brass fittings today. exhaust shop is holding my car till tomorrow. so im waiting for the rest of today. their doing the short intake pipe, exhaust pipe, and making the I pipe and welding on the turbo and wastegate flange.
the car will only be driven to the shop with the 42 injectors untuned. how much of a concern is it driving around with bigger injectors and no tune??? ooo another update... this box just came in the mail an hour ago, hopefully its enough to fab up my charge pipe.
Theres a few things ive noticed:
-You need to get 90* adapters coming off the oil pump. With the pump situated under the rear pass seat its hard to angle the hose unless it connect up at 90*.
-Are you connecting the oil pump up the same time you mount the turbo? Just make sure they dont do one and not the other.
-Thats a check valve in the feed right?
-Dont drive with 42lb injectors untuned. Youll be spraying too much fuel and wash the cylinders. Install them in the parking lot of the tuner.
-Take out the spring in your wastegate so that the car doesnt make any boost.
-What is the box in the top left of the photo with the -4an fittings?

yea i realized that i should get those 90 oil pump fittings when i was taking the pics. the shop is only mocking up the turbo to get the pipes fitted. when then taking it back off when their done.. so ill be driving home with no muffler : ))) ok for sure no driving with the 42 injectors. and to answer your questions yes thats a check valve. and that little black box attaches next to the oil filter, so instead of flipping the piece upside down, you just remove it and put that iin its place. thanks for the comments / suggestions.. keep em comming
New injectors...will run really rich at idle and WOT, but otherwise...to the tuning shop...no problem.
All that damn oil stuff. I spent soooooo much time, driving, etc, etc figuring that crap out. I said screw it and did it the easy way. Don't remember what that is now
.
I think it was mostly the stock STS stuff...a few fittings here, a few connectors there and a whatchamacallit in the middle. It's basically just a couple of feet from my flux capacitor...

ok i finally got the car back from the exhaust shop, they were making the "I" pipe. they killed me on price, but i must admit they did a really good job, the bend is really smooth, and the wastegate pipe is setup really nice, they used nice hangers and even painted it all black for me.
right now i am mock fitting the charge pipe. you cant really see in the pic but it is going over the axle. and my side skirts hide the pipe really nice.
im going for max ground clearance. hahah i ALMOST finished but i was short a 90 degree bend under the engine as you can see. i have to find someone that will weld aluminum and then paint the pipes black.
I CANT FIND THE VBAND CLAMP FOR THE DOWN PIPE anywhere, someone please help !

the pipe coming under your control arm up front in the second to last pic, you are going to want to start angling it up pretty much immediately after the control arm or you are going to scrape it quite often.
Jeff, lookin good
Did you have to modify any of those charge pipes (as in cut or bend)? It looks like you literally just played a game of legos and snapped them right up. Post up some more pics of the wastegate pipe and I-pipe.
Four Qs:
I thought I sent you a vband??
What kind of wastegate did you get?
And why did you go over the axle for charge pipe?
What pieces came in that box (i guess which did you use)
keep up the good work

oo i see what you mean, i didnt think it would be that low untill i took my car off the jacks and noticed, however my car hasnt been lowered so it might not be too bad
javenger i ordered 90 bends, 45 bends, and straits, i also have 90,45, and strait couplers. i just cut a few pipes, but the rest is just legoing them together lol.
you did send me a vband, but its too small, and the shop tryed to order one, n it was too big. so right now im just kinda stuck.
i am using a tial 38mm wastegate, and i just feel that over the axle is cleaner, stealthier, and better ground clearance.
ill take more pics this afternoon, ima try to get all the oiling set up

I sent you a 3" and if the one they gave you was too big then you likely have a 3.5" flange on the turbo. PM me and ill send you a link to a 3.5" seller. Theyre rather hard to find for some reason. You'll have to call turbonetics for a 3.5" flange/collar as they are literally the only ones that have it and its pricey at $27+shipping for just the piece.

eibach pro kit in the front, put the stockers back in the rear cause it sat too low with the turbo, stereo, spare, battery, etc.. back there.
been that way for 2 years now
the 45 has hit the ground once when the car bottomed out on a wacky dip in the road.
your magic ball might be right 5-10 years down the road, but so far so good.

i have a big problem when i tried to start my car today. (i also posted this in the official sts help thread)
heres the problem
help help help help help!!!
heres what happened, i spent the day installing my turbo, i wanted the turbo mounted, and all oiling done. so i taped in next to the oil filter, and hooked up the 4an line... started the car, oil streamed through like normal. so i hooked it to the top of the turbo. then i set up the oil pump. set it up to come on with the fuel pump, i turn the key to on, and i hear it prime like normal. so i run the line to the oil cap n such.
so bascially everything is setup except the charge pipe isnt going into the throttle body just yet, its just sitting there under the car. i go to start it with the turbo and wastegate etc mounted. and i look under the car and WATER is flying through the exhaust. leaving a big puddle on the ground. i have no idea whats going on???
anyone have ideas???

do you have cats? it might be exhaust vapors that have accumulated and were just forced out when the car was started. did the the water keep coming out or did it stop after awhile?
i had something similar happen to me awhile back... but it was only little trickles of water that were dripping out of the exhaust pipe after the turbo. i was already tuned and everything though, but it tripped me out...
also, that silicone elbow coming off the turbo is making me worried. I have a small problem when i go into boost, and the pipe going over the axle pressurizes, it flexes and hits the rear end and part of the tunnel underneath. I can hear it happen when the turbo spools. I assume you might have the same problem with that elbow.... but just lookin out for ya!! eveything looks awesome though!

im not boosting just yet, but ill look out for it hitting the axle, i was too afraid to keep the car running. ill let it idle for a few min today n see if the water stop pouring out. thankss
another good test to check for the oil pump is to fill a bucket with oil and have another empty bucket next to it and have the pump suck it up and transfer to make sure its running good before making it do its job on the turbo because I think some pumps have a "break in" process.
