Hope you have better luck than me! I think that iron block is harder to cool than the aluminum. The extra displacement doesn't help matters either.

I just ordered a 180. I figured if the cooling system couldn't support 160 degrees consistently than why bother trying to hold it there? I think I'd rather try to stick with something consistent than go for something super low. Also, I don't want any check engine lights and I want the option of having heat.

Personally I would stick to 180, if not the stock temp. 160F is low enough that lubrication efficacy starts to disappear. For wild temps, a bigger radiator would be my choice.
