Gen-TT: Our Twin Turbo LS1 Drift cars
For those of us that dont know much about the Aussie Gen-TT company 'LS1TURBO'....heres our Sunday rest day
Today we got a chance to get out to Adelaide International Raceway and test not only the GT Autosound R34 LS1 with our Gen-TTR Intercooled twin turbo system on board, but also put our HSV VX R8 (LS1 with Gen-TTR Intercooled Twin Turbo) to the test with ace Drift Australia driver Mark Phillips showing us how its done. This car has been down the drag strip, competed in dyno competitions, been on the circuit 'grip racing', done the show car scene, so drifting was all thats left to make it the total Aussie allrounder
The day started off slowly with both cars off the transporters and getting ready for a full day of belting. We brought 8 x 255/35/18 Federal RS595 Semi Slicks for the Clubsport, and canvassed the lot! The GT Autosoundd guys had plenty of Toyos ready to go, and a hunger just as large to turn them into a molten mess on the AIR surface
Out on the track then and ready for action the two LS1 Gen-TTR Intercooled Twin Turbo Terrors lined up ready to mix it with some Japanese hardware. No one could match these guys when it came to the pure horsepower involved in putting on a world beating smoke show.
Mark spent a couple of runs getting to grips with the weight and power delivery of the Clubby, working with a low initial boost setting of 8psi to get the behaviour of the chassis dialled in just right. Adjustments to front and rear dampers, front camber, tyre pressures and the like soon had the whole shooting match handling his way
George on the other hand revelled in the conditions and was constantly bouncing the limiter of 7000rpm at 15psi of boost pressure in the LS1 equipped Gen-TTR Skyline...and still, this engine lives and lives hard with zero knock readings and an incredible ability to soak up punishment!
Smokeshow of the day though goes to Mark Phillips pounding the rev limiter in the Clubby in 3rd and 4th gears, full wide open throttle from the end of the old dragstrip, all the way through the first two turns without lifting....even a millimetre....we have the hardware, we have the driver....we have the bug...more to come soon!
Oh, BTW heres a picture of the Gen-TTR system in the HSV (same as GTO) engine bay -
and in the Skyline where the space requirement is a little different, the same turbos sit on some custom pipes
