Default Supercharged LT1... what spark plugs and gap do you guys prefer??

I am putting a vortech s-trim on my 95 lt1 formula. I have done some research and found some people put ngk tr6 and some put autolite 104 on there lt1's, but I have not gotten any deffinate answers... also there are different opinions on gapping. Vortech told me 40-42 would be the correct gap. I am also wihsing to replace the plug wires with some stock replacements. Please let me know your guys opinions so I can make the best possible selection.

It depends on your boost level. If you are over 13#'s of boost, you should run an Autolite 103. Almost all guys are gapping at .35, although some go a little smaller like .32

I have heard some guys having issues with the NGK plugs.

TR6 gapped @ .030. CALL911 I didn't know autolite 103's were cold enough. Hmm I've got 2 sets laying around as spares.

I am going to be running right around 9#'s of boost so would you guys recommend the autolite 104? or another plug? I also hear mixed reactions on plug wires... mine have 40k on them so they need replaced and I was thinking a basic replacement plug wire would work, any opinions on that?

Sounds like your motor is stock... With 9psi. Definitely upgrade your plug wires, the stockers and cheap stock replacements suck.

I ran TR6ix's in my stock motor with 10psi at .035

Now Im running Autolite Iridium plugs gapped at .024

Not sure of the autolite part numbers, but you'll need to go 1 heat range colder than stock. Im running 2 heat ranges colder but my engine is far from stock and we're maxing the blower out.

Yeah I was told to run 1-2 heat ranges colder than stock, I am prob going to pick up some autolites but don't know for sure yet if the 104 is what I want for a near stock motor with 9psi. Hopefully someone who has experience with the autolites will chime in!

Not sure between the 103's and the 104's. For my boost level, I know the 103's are perfect (15#'s), but not sure if it would still be good for your boost level.

Yeah for some reason I thought I remembered seeing seeing guys would use the 104's on superchargers that produced around 6-8 psi, but still waiting to have that confirmed by someone who has tryed them out and can tell me the best bet for 9psi

I have been running Champion RS12YC for the last 5 yrs. I am also at 9lbs on my LT1 and my ETs show the engine loves them. If you are not a Champion fan you could cross reference these.

Also, don't gap them any larger than .035.

Call911- You will only need 1 heat range colder. NGK TR6 is one part# I positively know. If you go to Advance auto parts or AutoZone I KNOW they can cross reference it.

2 heat ranges will be too cold for your setup.

On a stock internal LT1?
I would be looking at some forged rotating assembly kits.

I know for a fact that Autolite 103's are perfect for my boost setting. This has been proven on several similar boosted cars I know, and was reccomended by my tuner, until he found out I had AFR heads, and that the 103's don't have the gasketed seal I need for my heads.

I will be running Autolite 3922's in my car this year.

Have you run 9psi on your stock bottom end or did you build it up? I have been told 9psi is a bit much for stock, people say to bump it down a couple psi... not sure the best route to go

9psi is about the most I would run. Even with 9#'s, you better have a top notch fuel system, along with either a large intercooler or a methanol injection setup, not to mention a great tune.

Safely with a stock bottom end, and everything I listed above, I wouldn't go above 6#'s unless you are ready to buy a new block if the stock one goes.

Just my .02 cents. Everyone has their own opinion on this.
