Default Street/Strip Single on T4

Im looking for a recommendation for a single turbo on a 346. It'll be used as a street/strip car, initially on low-ish boost with a standard bottom end to sort the car, until funds recover enough for a forged 346 short block then really wind her up.

Requirements are id prefer a T4 flange and prefer sub $1500 for the turbo itself. The car is an A4 that I eventually want to run deep into the 10s with. Im having custom manifolds made and a 600x300x100 intercooler.

Do you think the Turbosmart UltraGate 38 would flow enough or would a ProGate 48 be required? Any other wastegates I should look at too?

So, Garretts, Turbonetics, ST76, PT76GTS etc etc etc

There are lot of turbos that will fit your goals and work well, 76gts comes to mind. I would run a bigger gate then a 38, it will probably work for you but alittle overkill never hurt when it means you have to change part of the turbo kit to fit a bigger gate.

The ST76 will be the most powerful T4 of the bunch, then the 76GTS. A progate would be the way I would lean. Bigger gate, maybe a little more solid for low boost and definitely can handle whatever you want to throw at it.

Deep in the 10's is no problem for the PT76GTS. In fact, deep in the 9's is no problem for it, but it's at or slightly more than $1500. One of the Turbonetics TC76's is cheaper ($1100) and should be able to get there.

If you're looking for the most powerful T4, then that would have to be the new ST80. It'll go mid 8's based on the ratings if set up right.

Will be running 98 octane with a splash of octane boost

Anywhere I can find some information on the TC76?

Are there any major advantages/disadvantages going to a T6 flange? (any pics?)

Does it open up a whole range of better turbos?

Advantage:
Lots more power available (up to 200 hp with the same compressor side)

Disadvantage:
Spool up is slow
Size is huge
