Default Twin GT35r's or PT67's for a 408

Would either of these be a better choice over each other for use on a 408? I can't make up my mind on what I want. Here's what I'm hoping for....A street/strip car with big power potential, solid 9 second potential, stock pcm. Am I just dreaming??? Right now I'm thinking the speed inc kit may be my best choice.

Look up "inspector12" 's post, he uses pt67's on a 402 ls2 and made 840hp on ~15lbs on pump gas on the first pull and wont release anymore numbers. He says they spool by 3000-3500rpms though...

I'd definitely go with 67's if i had the cubes and if I still had a 347 I'd go with gt35r's.

How much do the GT35R's flow when it comes to lbs/min? The 67's flow enough and we all know that. The only question mark is matching the GT35R's to the right engine..

either will get you to 1000bhp. if you want fast spool then you can get the PT67 with BB cores. some of the import guys are starting to use the PT67s now.

thanks Chris.

they are at 1181rwhp on race gas......and there swapping out the turbos for GT4067's

The 67's will make more power on pump gas and be better suited to the larger engine....

I would run a pair of TC66's with the MPS turbine wheels. Spool fast and make some big power.

I have the LQ4 block at 408 CI. I run through a TH400 and made 882 RWHP.

I have a pair of T-67's

Twin Turbo: Part No=PT-67 Max. Rated HP=780
Compressor Wheel Dia.=66.548mm, 84.074mm
Compressor Wheel Trim=63
Compressor A/R Ratio=?
Bearing System=360 Race
Turbine Wheel Dia.=81.28mm
Turbine Wheel Trim=85
Turbine A/R Ratio=.85

I've run out of fuel so I'm stuck here at 18.5 PSI but I'm sure it's got more in it.

If you want more HP though I would go with these
Max. Rated HP=1100
Part No=GT42R
Compressor Wheel Dia.=94mm, 102mm
Compressor Wheel Trim=53, 56
Compressor A/R Ratio=0.60
Bearing System=Ball Bearing
Turbine Wheel Dia.=82mm
Turbine Wheel Trim=84
Turbine A/R Ratio=1.15

The compressor section is pretty big so you'll have to make some room for sure for the 42's.

Keep in mind that a smaller turbine section might choke your motor at 408 CI. That's what led me to change to these turbos and go Twin.

If your going with a pair of twin GT42-70's then I would go with a pair of ST70's. They will make more power then the GT42's by far. The dual BB will do very little at this point with a big twin setup.

My T-67's are fine for me. My car has plenty of power for what I want in my car.

All depends of what you want. They're are good choice for your motor size as I can show you the results on mine.

How much HP are you ultimately looking for?

Why do the ST70's claim 1000 HP rating while the GT42 claims 1100? Someone's full of crap on their ratings. Or am I missing something? I mean you stated that the ST series will make more HP by far so Garret must be full of crap. Or are you talking about something other than full out? Please splain yourself....

Depends on what your comparing it to. The GT4294 or otherwise known as the GT42-70 is rated in the link below by GT themselves at 850hp

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...4_731376_1.htm

The GT4202 or otherwise known as the GT42-74 is rated below as well at 1000hp.

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...2_731376_2.htm

Also the ETT 70 wheel alone flows 94.XX lbs/min.

How is the intercooler setup? Are you merging into both turbos into one outlet or one on each side and the outlet on top.

Very nice work...

Don't worry about spool with a 408, go big on the exhaust side.
