Default Still cant make boost

I got plugs for my turbo inlets and throttle body side of cold piping and pressurized the intake pipes, intercooler and compressor housings to 30psi, fixed some small leaks.

Also hooked the boost controller up the way I orig had it, and disconnected the meth kit.

Car makes boost a little quicker now but still wont go past 7 on the gauge, thought i might have forgotten a wastegate seat but they are both in, 1 bar springs are on order so I will put new exhaust mani gaskets and springs in next week, we are at a loss for why this thing wont make boost.

Our only thought has been the timing problem we thought was gone is still there, or we are blowing out spark, if anyone else has suggestions we would like to hear them

it woudl have to be one hell of an exhaust leak....

I just don't think the boost controller is installed correctly.

I'd focus on the gates. Make sure the gate seats are in. Check the gate spring pressure and change out to a known spring....it's in the gates if they don't have a reference and still no boost.

Well there is about 8psi of boost, just not the 14 that I want to make for street driving, and def not the 20 I need to go to the dyno.

I have some 0.9 bar tial springs coming, the gates came with tial 9psi springs, and its always built a little under 9psi, I just always thought I could turn it up more without having to get bigger springs.

Will post up new status report after I put the new stuff on.

We thought about that, but our waste gates are vband and it could get spendy to make some proper caps.

Yea, I can see that. Easier to swap to some stiffer springs. Boost controllers used to give me fits when I started messing with turbos years ago and there was no internet, you have to watch because some have little check valves or orifices that may not work right with twins.

Exhaust leak, it maybe a small one here and there but it'll add up...ask me how I know.

I fought a boost issue like this for a better part of a year, couldn't make no more than 9psi..search it. My WG clamp from TiAL was a leaking bitch. When I took my kit off for coating earlier this year I discovered a lot of lil leaks that added up to one big one.

I replaced that flimsy TiAL WG clamp with a beefy clamp and sealed it up for good. I was running some super duper carbon gaskets on the outlets of my truck manifolds. Those were toast...went back to high temp copper RTV, sealed it like the old days. Even my factory GM header gaskets showed signs of a leak toward the rear. Replaced those.

Bolted it all back together, and had no problem making 9.85psi on the logger...at 58% throttle. 15psi was not an issue either, took it out for one manly shakedown run at WOT on a side street and promptly destroyed my Stage 4 tranny.

Upgrading to a TH400 and a 9 inch as we speak.

Tiago sorry i'm late i'll take care of you tho

Mcmaster sells caps that work awesome for the TIAL WG. I'll post pics of my SS cap that I bought from there tomorrow.

You can see the clamp I bought for the WG

i had my wg off yesterday and had a setscrew rattling around inside it. I took it apart and it was one of four that holds the wg valve. The others were lose....might check the internals and make sure the diaphragm and all parts are ok. With the setscrew out, mine was leaking alot of air between the top/bottom ports.

Are you sure the gate seats are in? It was easy to miss them in my 38's.

Yes the gate seats are in, that was the first thing I checked when I suspected a exhaust leak

so you've tried completly disconnecting any boost reference from the WG and slowly rolling into the throttle and it still won't make any boost??

If so then the problem is either the turbo or the WG. Its rare but I've heard of WG failing but usually they stay shut which means TOO MUCH boost, not what you're experiencing. My bet would be your turbo has issues...

See if the stiffer springs make a difference before doing anything extreme.
