ST80 vs T76gts ***PICS***

Here is a picture of a T4-80 vs T6-80

My buddy has been running Switzer turbos for like two years now on his Mustangs...

Smaller then off the shelf S400's. They are the same size as the ST series units.
Also spool ALOT faster then a standard S400. Standard S400 are not designed for gas engines, though they can be used on them...

put it next to a GT42-76... bet the difference isn't much.

BTW, the real bad boy turbo would be the GT45R 80mm.
A GT45R turbine flows much less then a SX turbine. That GT45R turbine flows close to a GT42 turbine. Also the comp wheel on the GT45R flows 10lbs/min less then the SX80 compressor wheel
. 12 blade turbines have no business on a performance setup. You can make decent power on a small ci engine (~1000rwhp with a GT45R on 2.5-3.0L), but why do that when you can make 1100-1150rwhp and same size as a GT42. GT45R though is pretty good for spool up with its DBB design, but its not cheap either....BTW flow figures below.
42-76 = 101lbs/min
45R-81 = 113 lbs/min
SX80 = 125 lbs/min
Doc is there a difference between the st80 and sx 80? their power levels are rated the same I think? That would be the t-4 based sx80 of course. I guess it is the ar of the turbine houseing the st is 1.0 and the sx is 1.1?

. We can do the same turbine housings on both the ST and SX series units. Though the SX can be done in a T6 as well. OK... so the question now gets asked...
383, 8.5:1, AFR 195, HSR, Comp Cam 230/230 114, no more then 6500 RPM... ST80 or SX80?
Im limited on how much power I can make anyway because of the stock late-model block Im using. If the HP monkey on my back gets the best of me (and if the money is right) I might just jump and get the Motown block.
So... which turbo???

The test unit has alot of testing still to undergo. Also some things will be changing on the design as well, so its still a good ways out.
