Fel Pro has been testing a gasket with 4 layers that has more ability when the head lifts away from the deck. The initial testing was a welded up prototype that worked well, and this is the production gasket. Keep your fingers crossed!

thanks for the explanation kurt

the 'special' is they are something new for me to try to get the thing to hold more boost / more horspowah without having to take the engine out.

providing they work (better than the gm mls) then I wouldn't know why they wouldn't become quite popular

I've got high hopes for my setup. We're going to try something that I don't think has ever been done on an LS1 before but seems to work with other extreme cylinder pressure setups. I'm waiting to see how these gaskets work by themselves.

Not at all... Even with a convitional copper gasket you shouldn't leak **** if it's dun right...There are better copper gaskets now days that have silicone built it them around the jackets..We've used both and never had any problems on water leaking..Best thing to do is spray them down with copper seal, torque the heads down ,let the car run for a bit, pull the headers and covers back of and re torque..I never had a motor built without a o-ringing and reciever groove setup..The extra $400 is WELL worth saving yourself the trouble in the end..IMO

You ever done a double ring set-up??
An inner ring on the head and another on the block???
Copper gaskets of course.

A guy that used to build motors for me brought it up one time..That was when we were limited to stock castings and such..I'm confidant with a single o-ring on my lsx block and allpro heads...I think if i can push passed one
o-ring than i'll have bigger problems than head gaskets ..

I've heard from a reliable source that you can put it in either the head or the block. Most do the heads so they don't have to disassemble the motor to cut the groove.
