follow up on this.

i've had a new rash of requests about these. I talked to fel pro over the weekend and they are now stocking these and should be available via your favorite sponsor to the right! ->

I was led to them by the fellow "427" at "W2W"

So are they 6 bolt only gaskets, or 4 bolt pattern too ?

Well, to add a competitor to drop prices, that's one way of looking at it. The MLS works like a champ in most apps, but high horsepower pushing water, I really believe the added bolt systems will work better... As for running them without adding the bolts, I really honestly don't know. Fel-pro has made some good stuff, I used to run those in my 455, and they worked like a champ. As for FI, not sure how they'll work, but they sure do look promising. I too wonder why people nowadays don't believe in oringed blocks with copper gaskets, I used to see those ALL the time!

the gaskets i have (pictured) are 6 bolt but of course i am only using the normal 4 with my ls2 block and original style all pro heads, using stock replacement arp studs and something like 100# on them with arp moly lube

Yikes...100lbft !!

Do you think that is the reason for better sealing, or the gaskets themselves ?

I asked about 4/6 bolt....because do they do the same gasket you are using in a 4bolt style, or is it 6 bolt only ?

I did enquire with a couple of vendors about them, and they only came up with 1160 or 1161L stype 4 bolt gaskets.
But its unknown, if these are the same as yours, albeit in 4 bolt. Or if yours are a totally different gasket.

i think they only do the extra layers in 6 bolt design.. since they will work for eithe application.

ya it ended up being something like 100.. i did 2 cold retorques and i got agressive with the clicking to make sure i was actually doing something each pass

i am confident w2w can get anyone the exact gaskets i have

Yep Stevie the wires are steel. Many people in all out power adders run the double wire and copper but it's not a street car type setup.

umm, well the gaskets are still on the car and sealing fine driving around and the occasional blast. they have held longer and better (to higher boost) than any other gasket i've tried

on my highest boost passes the engine got back to the same old 1/2 quart of coolant moving per pass. they didnt leak at all until after my second 23psi pass.

even though they leaked i still feel like they would go back to not leaking in the 17-18psi range

Thumbs up

I would only do the good head studs and the MLS. I see nothing but problems with people running copper on anything other than an all out race car. A lot of it is how stiff the heads are and how well the tuning goes to killing detonation of course.

I am running the MLS 5 layer gaskets with ARP studs. Should I torque to 100ft/lb?

Just FYI, Kurt at W2W is getting me the same gaskets as MM has. I think anyone can get them through him if they can't get them directly from FelPro.
