Try over 1000. My LT1 didn't have max boost of 7psi until 4,800rpm. And once there, the boost was very inconsistent. And not only was the spool time noticeably higher, it also took a lot longer to get from equilibrium to max boost.
Who the hell installed it! Can you say leaks! Sounds like you hacked a kit on to your car and got the results you deserved.
I had a STS kit on my car and loved it. Fast spool,awesome power (400rwhp @5psi), and ran a 12.1 on drag radials through a a4. Car was bone stock other that the kit. Great kit for the money. Awesome on mostly street driven cars. All depends on what your after but STS is a good well rounded kit.
