Default All ATI P1 or D1 owners inside please

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by...

I am tuning a guy's car (that does not have or use the web) and he has 2 issues with his setup... The first is this crazy MAF/TB/procharger air box alignment problem. When talking to ATI they say he is the only person that they have ever heard of with any alignment issues in this area. Any ideas? The current part was cut up from something for a toilet

The second issue is that the car runs hot... not overheating but hanging out at 230ish. He has water wetter, an electric pump, has his air dam and that black plastic thing between the washer tank and radiator (which was removed from his wife's SS on the spot ), has a 160 stat and the cooling system is clean and coolant is new. He has the single procharger fan and the shield it mounts to on the back of the radiator. ATI also says he is the only person with this problem (with all of the plastic in place).

Thanks for any help

-edit-
The car has AFR 205s, Hooker LTs, Comp 232/234 112, Fast 90, NW 90mm TB, 12 bolt, $$$ clutch, cold(er) plugs, 8# pulley, and methanol should be in the mail by Mon or Tues...

I do have the fitment problem from the plenum to the Throttle body. I am not using a maf as I am going speed density. But I was able to make a piece of silicone match up to a smooth air bellow It is not pretty but it works. However I am not sure how well it works under driving conditions, as my car has not left the garage yet. here is the link to a video of my car and you can see what I am talking about.

Make sure your fan is not running backwards..I know it sounds silly but I've seen it happen twice.

to straighten the fitment out a little bit pull the pipe off at the plenum and the top a slightly to help angle it down......i can get a pic for you in the next hour or so

Someone cut the first hose a little short, here is the two procharged cars I had, had to angle things a little but the main thing is to get the MAF behind the radiator support.

As far as the overheat, as mentioned, make sure the fan is going the right way (and working at all) - should be pushing air towards the rear of the car.

Yup,thats a problem i've never seen.
Could be a few things.
Motor is lowered
Tranny is shimmed up too high
Car was hit in the front and the radiator support is too high
radiator plate is on wrong

God bless you on tuning it in.Just that angle and the Mass air ends would cause me to quit before starting

also thats not the ATI radiator support, the ATI one has slots cut where the outer two hoses go and where it goes to the MAF so the plenum will sit a little more level instead of jacked up in the rear. Instead of the BMR just strip and polish or ceramic coat the ATI piece

If you said the plstic deflector for the radiator on the bottom was taken off, there is your problem as well. An F-body will run hot if that is not there.

He actually still has the floppy first hose that it came with, the short piece is from something else. We will see what we can do about moving the MAF.

Motor is on a BMR tubular K with solid mounts and the car has never been wrecked, but I think you are on about his BMR radiator cover... We didn't get it to dyno, but after redoing his PCV so it didn't pressurize the crankcase, tightening the blower belt (and then putting back the hoses that popped off under first boost after the loose belt) it was actually pretty easy to tune on the street. Hope to hit the rollers in a week or so.

Thanks to everyone else who chimed in as well, his big fan IS pulling, so we are good there.

Also ALL associated plastic (air dam and deflector in from of radiator) are in place and intact.
