I droped my K member and put the BMR one on by myself (no friends) lol. it really was that hard I had the trans out of the car already so I just used the trans jack and held the motor up by the pan. I still had a lot of room to work and it was really stable that way.

I am watching because I am think after I take the car to the track and get some times on the bottle I am going to put mine up for the year and start in on it. Keep up the good pics and good luck. If you need help some night I wouldnt mind comeing down and helping, I could get a feel of what its going to be like.

Yeah you can use this on a stock engine. Just keep the boost limited to the 7lbs springs that it comes with on the wastegates. The stock engine bottom ends will live with up to 550hp reliably. Beyond that is when they start to break things. The only items you NEED to update would be your valve springs and I am doing pushrods while I am in there just for piece of mind. The 60lb injectors are good for plenty more HP as well (so I am told).

Cranked on the car some more tonight. Not a good night for me. Discovered the AIR pump relocation bracket does not fit my particular AIR pump. Peter, my AIR pump does not match your pics (my car is a 99 Camaro and my pump looks different than the pics in the installation manual and does not fit into the bracket provided). Have you seen this before? Also broke my temperature sensor for the intake while swapping that out. DOH! Time to order a new one. Took off the front bumper beam & marked it for trimming, unbolted most of the K-member components in preparation for dropping the K-Member, and trimmed the hood latch bracket. Most of the stuff is prepped for re-assembly now. I need to get some more tools to trim the bumper. My angle grinder is not fine enough to make a clean cut. Anyone that wants to lend a hand let me know. I can use it now for many of the next steps. I am still targeting getting this roadworthy by next Monday. So their may be a thrashing party at my house all weekend!

You really should ditch the AIR and EGR. They are absolutely worthless and sever no performance gains.

Get rid of them and when you get your car tuned have them turn the codes off. No problem.

I may consider taking it off all together. We will see (but then I can't use that sweet mini filter that came with my kit, ). I did some research today and discovered there were different pumps for 98-99 (12559193) and 00-02 (12568241). One of the guys in my club has the AIR pump off of his car that matches the newer style one. So I may just intall that one for now.

Also ordered my new intake air temperature sensor today. If anyone else messes their up it is P/N 12160244. Mine was fine taking it out of the lid I had. But I messed it up taking the grommet off of it to install into the intercooler. Be gentle with them, they are fragile.

I'd only keep the AIR pump if you are going to run cats. I'm assuming you won't run cats, so ditch it and the EGR. Good luck!

I was originally planning to try to keep it emissions legal. And may still, got a line on a newer pump that will fit in the bracket. I need to talk to a local muffler shop to see if they can reuse my cats I just took off. And I will check with my tuner, if it is easier without, I will go without.

Hi Tony, I've not worked with a 98/99 model F body car so if the air pump is different you may need to make a different pump reloctaion bracket or modify the bracket we supply, sorry I can't say more as I don't have access to your model F body.

Last night was some more bad news and some good news. Plumbed up my compressor and plugged it in and it stopped after 3 minutes..... DOH! Something is not right there and I need that monster for my valvespring swap and other cutting tools......

On a good note, got the exhaust manifolds, turbo's, and downpipes subassembled. Also put on the oil lines for the turbo's and added the starter heat shield to the RH side Assy.

Learned a valuable lesson too. There were 2 different length studs provided that only varied by 2mm. Pay CLOSE attention to the stud lengths as I had to go back and find a few that got mixed into my turbo & manifolds subassemblies. I needed the longer ones for the manifolds to the engine. Slowed me down for a bit, but all straightened out now.

You may want to add a disclaimer or clarify with your kits that the bracket provided works for a 00-02 AIR pump and not the 98-99. They are different. Not too big a deal as I can either take that all off the car, or retrofit it with a newer pump. I found one locally that is not being used if I decide to keep my emissions hardware.

Hugger,

Do you think the LS7 clutch will hold with the APS TT kit?
I didn't think it would be strong enough.

If that falls through, let me know. I've got mine packed away in the basement!

Good job so far, I can't wait to get going on mine once the snow hits!

I am not sure. I hope it holds. And if not I guess I will need to find a stronger clutch. There are plenty of other options out there.

Will do. I am pretty sure I have a newer pump if I want it. Just gotta pick it up.

And let me know if you want any assistance when you start on your kit. Having been through it I may be able to offer some good input / install suggestions.

OK! Finally got one of the big items checked off of my list. I got the stock K-Member out all by myself last night! What a chore that was. Not too difficult overall but time consuming and tricky as the motor mounts got hung up on the motor so I ended up unbolting them from the k-member. I originally just unbolted the mounts from the block. I also had to wrestle the lower control arms out of the way as they were holding the stock K-member in place. And the steering rack bolts were tricky. I had to drop the K-member down to allow for those bolts to be taken out and then slide the rack forward and out of the K-member brackets. I already had the brake lines unbolted and nothing got hung up on me. All in all not too bad, and my neighbors probably think I am nuts after letting out a "Woohoo" when I finally got that thing dropped.

Also took the stock mounts apart in preparation for the urethane mounts. Cleaned them and put a coat of paint on them so they look nice. They were a bit rusty looking. Getting closer to hanging the turbo's!!!

And while I was pondering some of the K-Member fun, I also re-routed my hood latch release cable under the fender so it will be out of the engine bay. I forgot to get pics of that though.

Dont forget that you need to drop the oil pan and tap it out before you put the K member in. Lookin good. Got my heads and pan off last night.
