Default Anyone have any idea how much to fix turbo?

Apparently the exhuast wheel is trashed and needs a new exhuast wheel, and new bushings...

This is for a gt55-91 turbo.

I was quoted 675 and that sounds kind of high...

I tried calling Jose but no one answered...

TIA.

I don't know any specifics, but I did hear around 600 for one particular turbo.
Bummer.

That's a pretty big turbo. I think the average price for a basic rebuild with just bushings & seals runs around $350 all the way to $500. I don't know what the wheels on your turbo run, but I wouldn't think that the price you were told isn't too high. But check around, get a 2nd opinion.

Leave Jose an email... I'm sure he'll get back to you quickly. You can also get a quote from Full-Race Motorsports in Phoenix...

Give us a ring or e-mail. We engineer parts for pretty much ANY turbo. We can fix it.....and possibly tweak it.

Why in the world would you go backwards???

From a GT55 to a GT47?????
Esp with a 408ci motor. You are going to run out of steam quite a bit sooner...

So true.....email is very handy for me....more so given different time zones etc

Just a pity that the sellers I try to contact via email dont see the same. I guess most are so busy, they dont need the custom.

So I just bought ordered a pair of GTK-550's from someone who did respond to my emails

Although I can appreciate, emails can be hard for people to respond to, as no doubt they get inundated with them, and many of them not direct sales etc.

Phone calls are probably best...which is ok for local guys. A bit of hassle if international like myself.

This is the way I figure it...

Im limited to power based off my injectors... im running 75# on stock pcm.

Based off some calculations I ran im limited to about 9xx to 1000rwhp or so... so theres no need for a 1500hp turbo.

with a smaller wheel, smaller housing, I should still be able to make that kind of power on higher boost, and on low boost I can still make 7xxrwhp with it spooling faster and being more efficient.

are my thoughts correct?

Plus by having the smaller housing I get that building of a turbo more breathing room since its 2 inches from the radiator now...

Ya I just got a response from Jose about 20 mins ago and responded...

Just thought Id have an answer quickly in the forums since most people know what they are talking about.
