Yea I considered that before getting the SRT8, but the stock speed and looks drug me over to the darkside. HPT is bringing out software so I'll just spray it until that is available to get in the 11s.

Heck even 12.9 is pretty awesome for a sled like that.

I might be test driving new AWD and 2WD ones later this week, Z06 might go away.

I'd love to be sporting a new vette but what can you do with two kids in school. I'm pretty happy with it overall, looked at the tune and man its some pretty weak sauce, I bet with a CAI and some timing will wake it up. 100* IAT pulls out 12 degrees of timing for a grand total of 6 degrees..

I think for now I'm going to do CAI and play with the tune and see how it runs.

That would be great, since the trans is weak I'd rather do a centri, little easier on the drivetrain then N2o Myabe build me a trans in the mean time..

I've been locating a 1SS 2WD TBSS for the past couple weeks - in red jewel tintcoat too ---- I'll have an identical truck to that shortly (I work at a Chevy dealer)

The key to making the 4L70E last is keeping the rpm down. High rpm seems to roast these trannies faster than the added torque. For this reason, a Magnacharger or a turbo would be a better option than a centrifical blower. You could actually lower your shift rpm some and make your trans live with 150-200 additional lb ft of torque. Think about how long 9-10 second Grand National trannies live...most of them are shifting well below 6000 rpm. The 4L70 actually has better parts in it than the 200 4R trans.

I was gong to say KP its time for you to do a sweet *** turbo build now that you have proven the LS1 with a blower.

Yes and no, for anything from the water pump back lower rpm is easier on parts. There just seems to be a lot of these transmissions that are crapping out with completely stock trucks at very low mileage so it could just plain be a design flaw/tuning. I have seen a lot of 4L60 cars that were beat to crap and the the stock trans made it well into the 100K mark. But you really dont know what people are doing, I dont know if 'completely stock' means a tune with the TM shut off or not. I've done a couple 4L60s for local guys and they are holding up just fine over 6500. I have no idea exactly what hard parts they changed for a 4L70.

So far I havent been that impressed with the times the maggie TBSSs have been running, I would probably rather do heads/cam/headers then one at this point. I can care less about dyno numbers really. I dont think 6500rpm is a trans killer, 7500 maybe

I already have a Dmax torque monster, great for pulling your neighbors house down if you get pissed at him but far from an exciting ride thats for sure. I'm thinking of letting my wife drive the TBSS and getting rid of the firebird and starting a different project right now anyhow..

Thinking about it, its been (and still is) a great car but I tend to get bored of things pretty quick - seeing its been here for three years now is a miracle. I was going to part it out but I walk by it every day and its a shame to do it, it will save someone a ton of time and cash and its still very plain looking so plenty of room for someone to personalize it.

Unfortunately cars like this are a hard sell even at 1/2 the build cost so I dont see it going anywhere soon

Honestly I just really dont have any enthusiasm to even run the car Bob, if its here and the right day hits I may give it a shot. Just a lttle burned out on the whole thing and 30 days of above 90 degree temps doesnt help

I've had it for nearly three years though, its been through several changes and considering my original plan was to run 10.0/9.90 I'm happy with how it turned out. Done a lot with it, had a lot of fun, its got me in magazines and on TV and has probably been one of the most reliable 9 second cars I ever owned.

We'll see what happens..
