If you could stay under 3200lbs raceweight then a D1SC would have a good shot at 8s in some good weather. But I would probably just go right into an F series either way.

Cartek built this 8-second stock cube C5 back in 2005 , the car ran 8.40's at 159 , it was a custom built Cartek in-house twin-turbo kit , 346 with a stock crank , Cartek prepped LS6 heads , LS6 intake , hydraulic roller cam with stock rockers and an air to air intercooler , it also had a 12 bolt rear to get that power to the ground .

Also the twin 91 SBC's are on alcohol......different story all together. You can spool ALOT bigger turbo on alky.

I remember Spetter back in the day had a 101 on his 33x ci engine and it was in the 7's with an igloo..SUrely the turbos are a little better now than they were 6 years ago.

I will go with a F series regardless. I don't want to get the D1 and then want to upgrade soon after. I just want to do it right the first time.

It didn't bother me one bit. I copied a well proved combo and have had a very fast dead nuts reliable street car for the last couple of years. Different strokes for different folks.

Just about every car out there is a copy of something, most builders take other's ideas and modify or add some of their own. The best way to get a solid baseline is to copy someone else's setup that works. No shame in that at all..
If the iron blocks were the same weight it would be a no brainer but on a race car 100lbs on a front may as well be 500 at times. My block has a crapload of passes on it and its a weak LS6 block according to some. If you dont constantly detonate it or overheat the thing I think the aluminum blocks will hold quite a while. But I'm also prepared to throw it away at rebuild time..
