depends on yout altitude. here colorado ive heard that a 10:1 motor can go 15#'s. but otherwise a stock ls1 can handle about 8#'s. if you want 10#'s get meth injection or switch over using e-85/ ethanol

8-9 psi no problem with a good tune, + looks like u need more fuel injector and that fuel pump wont survive .

I'd say go for about 45psi, and put a smaller throttle body on.

that is a good approach also. But you'd still need meth, or at least some nitrous to assist with the intake velocity factors...

It's a horrible approach, but that's my point. Another ignorant fool who thinks boost means everything.

I'd say that 8psi can be had with a FMIC and a good tune... You can put the 6.0 heads on with some good springs (patriot are always a good option) for a safer barrier.. Anything over please go with some meth and don't cheap out on it... The best meth kit (which you'll use after the engine build) is still way cheaper than pulling the engine for a forged swap... especially when you don't have the money for that...

But dude, if 45 psi and a smaller throttle body works so well, how come you're only in the 12s?

To original poster... um, you need to do a LOT of research. Safe boost means proper tuning, and wideband O2 /egt tuning on the dyno means a lot more than "8 psi with a wiener wagger" vs "10 psi with a wiener wagger AND crack"
Also keep in mind that if you're doing this on a street car, pump gas varies GREATLY in it's quality and purity, and you won't be tuning for the weather... so conservative is the key.

Short answer... with a GOOD front mount intercooler, and good tuning, 8psi should be safe, if tuned carefully and conservatively.

You wanna make big power... start with the short block, and build it for the style you'll run, IE low compression / high boost, nitrous, NA. The ideal motor for each approach differs.

I was in the 12 second club before I ever went FI. Haven't ever made a run with the procharger setup... All I've managed to do at the track with the procharger is break a driveshaft and a 10 bolt!
