Default PCM for turbo car

Blah, I've tried searching this dang forum for an hour and it keeps kicking out blank pages. Scrolled through about 8 pages here in FI with nothing that stuck out. I've started researching for my turbo project again since I'm starting a new job soon. Originally I had wanted to use a stock PCM with a custom Speartech harness in my 94 conversion car. Having to use a 2 or 3 bar sensor will probably greatly enhance the complexity of tuning the car I realize. I was hoping to find some of the bigger power cars and some stuff about them but blank searches didn't get me far. I may hold out for a used Big Stuff, Megasquirt, or Accel DFI and piggyback it but my cost just went up considerably.

When you talk about big power, what range are you talking about?

I agree, stock PCM with the correct programming from EFI LIve will work great for you

All depends on how much power you are talking about...

The Stock computer with 60lb Mototrons and 90psi fuel pressure will net you about 900rwhp with a good tune.

Stock computer with Injector Driver and 96lbs will get you way up over 1000ho but depending on the engine size idle can suffer, due to the slow injector response time and limited IPW.

If you are looking for a full race setup then BS3 is really the way to go.

Megasquirt is still not working with the LS1, it cannot read the Timing signals so it cannot control the ignitions, you could use a MSD L6 box to control the ignition then use the MS box for the fueling.

Thanks for the responses guys! My biggest concern with the stock PCM was the 2/3 bar MAP on stock PCM but I assume EFI Live will take care of this? I've never used EFI Live before, how does it outperform? I did in fact plan on using an injector driver with low imp 96# injectors to put me in the 1000 hp range. I had also planned on getting a base file either from PCM For Less or contact my dyno tuner and see if he'll do me a base file.

Over all cost of widebands and misc guages just got with the Bigstuff3. You can run it on a stock car and all gauges and everything works even the A/C.

Mine's gonna be a conversion car, hence the Speartech harness. I'll look into BS3.

BS3 is like $2k right? A conversion harness, EFIL, and a low impedance converter sounds like $1800 worth of stuff?

BS3 is like $1650.00

You have
2 step
Boost Control
Unlimted tuning
Wide band
No need for impedance converter.
Tuning per cyl
data logger

And the list goes on.

Sure does! I contacted BS and they told me to give Larry at ASSC a call, whoever and wherever that is. I'm thinking it'll probably work just from what I read about it. By the time I buy a wideband, it would be at $2K.

ASSC is not a sponsor though Larry is a nice guy and local to me.

I suggest buying it from W2W Kurt has outstanding custom support for BS3.

Yeah I realize ASSC is not a sponsor, I can remove the link if necessary. Tried doing business with W2W in the past and they would not return my phone calls. Not real pleased with their service.

I'd be interested to know where to get the BS3 for $1650?

I've never found any place to sell the LS1 system for less than the 2300MSRP, the ls1 with Trans control is around $2800.
The SBC/BBC setup is around 1800.

BS3 is incredibly strict with their pricing regulations, i've heard of them closing merchant accounts for not adhering to the sales contract and Pricing policy.
