Look at Dr Turbos opinion of it and thats exaxtly it. No reason to have Nitrous just to spool a turbo. It might be cheap, but you get what you pay for.

so what were saying is that a s400 will be fine. My motor will make well over 400 rwhp N/A. I don't think spool time will be a problem. If it starts coming on hard at 3000-3500 I don't see a problem with it.

Were can I find a s400 for sale?

You're just buying into the hype brother. And the S80 from FI.com is essentially just an S400 with an 80mm compressor. Oh and you can find the 80mm version for about 600 bucks cheaper if you know where to look

Well whatever makes you feel better about the issue. I'd tell myself the same things if my turbo makes the same power but costs double.

The turbos are making killer power for cheap, and they're holding up just fine.

1.32 ar with only a 74mm compressor sounds like the wrong turbo to me why not spend another 400 dollars and out spool your competitor by about 2000 rpms. The compressor is a tad smaller also which means it might be a tad down on power compared to a TC76.Then he can leave his competitor in the dust who thinks his s400 is the ****. Face it.

were talking 346 cubes here for street use. 1.32 ar I think is way too big and would take too long to spool kinda like a centrifical blower would. I hit peak boost right about 3000 rpms maybe a bit before. It will start spooling at 1800 rpms. Feels like a twin screw on steroids. Isn't the s400 a t6 exhaust housing? Maybe if he was planning on going 408 down the road.

S400's can be had with smaller exhaust housings now, 1.01 and even a T4 .96 is available from what I understand. The borg units are pretty beefy internally when shipped from BW.

They are physically huge though....tough to place in a tight compartment...but it can be done.

I am in the middle of redesigning my hot parts to fit a wider range of turbos. I am gonna run the ST80 on my new shop car (99 Z28).

The TC76MPS is a kick as unit. Spools fast, makes the power, and is easy to package.

St80 will sppol slower because of the bigger compressor housing, weight and size of the wheels on both sides. It will make a good bit more power though. on a 346-370 its worth 1100fwhp or so the tc will make about 900fwhp at the max.
