Default so lets say

you wanna make 1000rwhp and you have a iron 6.0 block to start with.

this will be a turbo motor and im not looking to kill my self buying parts. what good and what not for these. the reason im asking is i wanna switch from a E85 fueled TT gen 1 sbc to a E85 fueled TT gen 3

heads?
cam?
crank?
rods?
pistions?
compression?

AFR 225 or ETP big
cam is argueable
4" callies (or stock if you want to run more booots)
callies, eagle, howards, oliver, etc etc
diamond, mahle 2618, wiseco, je
compression is also argueable. but if you are running e85, 9:1 is a good round number

1000hp is going to be expensive no matter what

do the l92 heads port out well enuf to make them worth my time?
and do stock cranks hold up well?

Stock crank good to about where you'll be. I'd replace it for insurance.

I think I know who you are. I helped with a certain white C5 in your area with an F2 on E85 thats making about what you want. That motor is a 408 iron block with L92 heads, mild cam, L76 intake. I believe it has 9:1 compression using 70cc heads, 20cc dish pistons, callies crank & rods, diamond pistons.

I made quite a Bit over 1000rwhp with a 6.0L Iron Block, stock crank, Eagle rods and Diamond Pistons. 8.8:1 Comp. 6.0L Heads. baby cam 224/222 .581/.581 114+2.
and an S88 Turbo. Thru a Glide and a S60.

I know this guy too.

FWIW, he already has a kickass tubo set, he would probably just have to change his manifolds and modify his inlet system.

If it were me I would cal Speed INC and look at one of their 370 CI iron blocks and go with a good set of ported 317's or maybe even some 225 dart's that have been tweaked a little if you want the insurance of a thicker deck.

Yeah it shouldn't take much to switch things. As long as he has a carb style intake now, I'd suggest staying with that style, it'll only help and I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

Orange88, call Tommy and go over to that guys house to see the new intake!!!

He is still on stock cubes but his car is a straight up race car.

If you go with a al block I would look into a stud girdle for longevity.

What kind of numbers are we talking?


I have always wondered what kind of power could be made using reasonably priced parts. (Eagle, stock heads, etc ) I have always wanted to have endless supplies of cash to do some head to head testing on expensive parts (IE Callies, Oliver, etc) Vs the China stuff.

There has to be someone out there that has done a 6.0L block, eagle parts and ported 317's and a moderate cam, with boost. Am I nuts thinking that you could make 1300-1400 Hp with that combo????

From reading on here to hit 1000 rwhp will take some work. To hit 850 or so my goal should be pretty easy planning 6.0 408,forged parts of course.AFR225 and either my baby lingenfelter gt7 cam or might go for gt11 cam.Figure on 408 it will take around 18psi to hit 850rwhp on dynojet.
I might top off motor with direct port ,using my fast 90 /90 combo unless have problems with it and get another 100 to 150rwhp from nitrous.

A 370 with stock crank I think can do the job as well. But might be getting borderline for 1000rwhp.

The cheapest heads and intake combo seems to be the l92,l76. That could shave some money off right there. Do they work on 6.0 ironblock..no idea. As said I am going afr 225 on my build.
